Our Goalkeeper

I think Warnock brought him here to give us more of a vocal presence from the back. Unlike his two predecessors, he shouts a lot and also has the no nonsense big boot(Which often ends up coming straight back). Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to actually save many shots, and the ones he does he spills/palms into the danger areas.
 
He is not a goal keeper
He should get the title goal person
Goalkeepers make saves
He is good at kicking and shouting , that's it .
 
We were spoilt having Randolph here. I used to say “there it is, his weekly wonder save” as he somehow kept out a ball destined for the net on a weekly basis. The number of unbelievable saves he made was incredible.

With Bettinelli I would argue he has gained us 5 points this season. He made a fantastic save in injury time v Luton to keep it at 1-0 rather than 1-1 saving us two points but remember even in this game he gave away a penalty and only for the player kicking it twice did we get away with this. And also away at Birmingham we were 1-0 down and he saved from Hogan to prevent it going 2-0 and we then turned it around to gain 3 points.

Other than these two games I have been very disappointed. Not since Jason Steele have we had a keeper where the ratio of shots on target to goals conceded must be so high. Bettinelli is well protected but it seems any shot on target against us seems to go in. A high number of goals he concedes are also very close to him or seem to go straight through him. He has great distribution with this feet but fails to save shots or come for crosses which are the two main attributes I’d like in a goalkeeper.
 
He‘s the weakest link in the team, Stojanovic is better.

not sure about Archer either from what I’ve seen of him. I don’t expect Bettinelli to be here next year.
 
I think we were some what spoilt with Randolph as he was head and shoulders above others in this league. Perhaps it skewed our impression of what a to expect from a Champ keeper. Bettenelli is about what you get at this level. Capable of great stops but also capable of clangers
 
Think recent games shows how important Fry is. He's simply become someone we can't do without.

The sooner we get the old gang back together of Dijksteel / Mcnair / Fry and Bola the better.

His great stops are few and far between though , Dimi - for example was a much better keeper and playing for us was probably as good as it got for him.
