Our fans singing national anthem at cardiff..

Correct me if I am wrong but those are the words to the national anthem aren't they? Is being proud to be English really that bad? Is it because it has been hijacked by certain groups, or just that people are too easily offended these days? It seems that it's OK for the Welsh or Scottish to be patriotic, but not the English.
The words are "Long To Reign Over Us" not "Long To Reign Over You"

Although unlce_rico was technically wrong with the wording the sentiment of the English not being allowed to be patriotic whereas the Scottish and Welsh are slightly short of extremist is valid
I was at the match and pointing out what "some" of our fans were actually singing, though "not all."

Having read replies I think most of the comments feel it's out of place...thats what I think...I haven't once sang the national anthem at a boro game...I couldn't give a flying fook about the monarch at a boro game....no disrespect ma'am as I am a semi royalist outside of football.......
It would never enter my head to start singing God save the queen....
utfb....and the power game Bernard gent styleee
This nationalistic thing has never been a part of our psyche as a club in my experience which is 45 years ...
It just feels un boro like if you catch my drift... just an observation and I respect everyone's right to sing whatever the foo@ they want😊

Must be a load of hardcore Royalist Boro fans following our team. Wonder if they all camp out on the Mall for days before a Royal Wedding when the footballs not on..

Just a similar group of knuckle draggers who go out to offend at most games, particularly prominent at England matches, a desperate lot really.

Absolutely no problem with this.

It's only banter. I imagine every single English side who goes to Cardiff or Swansea sing it. It's not a Boro 'thing' because they are racist or knuckle draggers😂. If the 'worst' thing at football is English fans singing the national anthem then we'd take that.

I also must stress the the majority of Welsh and Scottish have far more 'issues' with us than we do with them.

The way things are going at football is basically like going to the cinema. Please don't irradicate all 'banter' and passion. I really don't want to only sit and sing 'come on Boro' and not interact with the other fans.

That said I'm not keen on being called a peado whenever we play Sunderland (the only side who hammer us for it). That's 'offensive'.

A poster in the thread mentioned the Welsh National Anthem was played before K.O, never known that in a none-international game barring finals etc.
Boro fans probably just reacting to that but even if they weren't, there's absolutely nothing wrong / racist / or offensive about it. Out of place, possibly, but that's about it.

Offensive when on the end of it, banter when dishing it out?
