One full season of Michael Carrick.

Frank Lampard moved from Derby to Chelsea.

Ex players with big reputations are also more likely to get opportunities. Not sure why. But it has always been the case.

Carrick will manage in the PL with Boro or another club within the next 3 years unless things go massively t!ts up for him over the next couple of seasons.
I consider it comes down to 'immediate respect' - players keen to play for a club/league legend etc. Bit like when Robson joined us. However, it's been proven that many great players don't make great managers, and I would actually love to see an English club take a chance on say, a top manager from industry with no football background. Warburton is the closest that comes to mind and did well but he had played non-league. The difficulty is the moment you get a start like Rooney did for Birmingham, the cries of 'he knows nothing about football' will start so I can't see it happening soon.

If I was a big Premier League Club looking at MC I would want to see an improvement this season on last season to show development in managerial skills. If I am being ultra critical I would say going out to Coventry last season was poor as we were expected to get to the Play Off Final. Hence improvement is progressing to the Final or possibly finishing third or possibly improving on 82 points. I know that is tough because of the loan players leaving and Akpom, but top half PL Clubs want and can demand excellence not just good.

Michael will have his own goals and targets and so will Steve Gibson.
The signs this season - so far - are good.
The "noise" from outside comes as part of the job.
For now he`s the spearhead in charge.
No question right now hes the man for the job.
Personally I have faith he will take us back to the Premier League. (y)
