On the train to London

Are you on the grand central? I much prefer GC to LNER now, alot cheaper and more leg room. I got a ticket for London day before travel for £28 other week.

I'm booked on a return 15-17th April cost £100 on GC.

LNER is spot on and shows a service doesn’t have to be ran privately by some random foreign company. In fact, the East Coast service was also very good when it was called East Coast about 12 years ago - also publicly ran.

Virgin took over for a short while, couldn’t make millions so ditched it. I’m just surprised the Tories have allowed LNER to remain public for as long as they have.

Isn't it funny that once privatised it appears to go to pot and has to be taken over by the tax payer who has subsidised it during its business years.

Stop the con. Nationalise the railways.

If only we had an incoming socialist government who would bring in a policy of renationalisation of industry that is key to national security like transport, housing, health, water, gas, electricity, health, education.
But, at least the rich and doing well.

The only way I’d go on a train now is if i could go first class - the last time i went in the cheap seats i can only describe it as like being in a zoo with some unruly animals

Can't do anything about the British public unfortunately.

Franchises no longer exist. I will grant you rolling stock mind, what a massive scam that is.
So you’re trying to say all British rail services are publicly owned and ran?

That makes no sense when the likes of First Group and Arriva are involved. Those are private companies.

Yes they are paid concessions. Dft sets the timetables, fares, which rolling stock is used, the lot.
