ohare coventry

He didn't listen with Twine, he won't listen now
As much as I rate Twine I do kind of understand why we didn't go for him(unless we did and he chose Burnley). I watched quite a bit of them last season, my mate is a Dons fan and I'm not sure where he would fit in here. He's not really a striker and he definitely isn't a midfielder, we'd have to play him at 10 but I think Wilder prefers the 2 up front. We're only playing a 10 at the moment through necessity. I'm assuming it will be back to 2 up front on Saturday though with Tav leaving.

Asking big money... And rightly so

I don't understand why anyone thinks Cov should sell their best 2 players for peanuts. You wouldn't expect it from Boro... Oh hang on 😉. I'd be wanting 20mil+ incoming from the pair of them.

I don't know if we ever wanted Twine? Yet we definitely didn't need him at the time so probably didn't go head to head with a club with parachute payments.

We may have gone for him if we knew Tav was leaving. It's pretty irrelevant now.

So we need someone 'as good' or better than Tav. Probably for half of what we sold him for. Good luck with that.

'I don't understand why anyone thinks Cov should sell their best 2 players for peanuts' to another team in the Championship. Add that on then your point makes sense. Believe me you, if a Prem side had bid for Gyokeres and O'hare they would probably have to sell (like we have). Otherwise they would be left with 2 very unhappy chappies in their side. Selling your gems to another Championship team is a whole different story.

Ralls from Cardiff, Bowler from Blackpool, Chair from QPR, Whiteman or Browne from PNE, Willock from QPR, Knight from Derby, Styles from Barnsley there's plenty of midfielders in our league and the league below that i'd love to see us bring in however, they may not fit CW plans and his way of playing and thats why the scouts and recruitment team get the big bucks and i sit at home on transfermarkt looking at goals, assists and performance stats

It always strikes me as strange when there are folk crying over how low the fee was for Tavernier, yet can't understand why Coventry would want similar for O'Hare?
Both 24, both played similar number of matches, both brought up through big academies, neither played for U21's.
Only one PL club bid for Tav, hence the fee.
Unless a PL club bids for O'Hare then they won't get that same fee for him.
But like us with Tav, any sale is all profit. All but £1m of a Gyokeres sale would be too.
A big joint fee for those two would be very difficult for Cov to refuse.

If you had said at the end of last season that we would effectively swap Spence and Tavernier for Gyokeres, O'Hare, Forss and cover the cost of 5 excellent loans (Steffen, Giles, plus 3 others inc another good striker) then I'd have been delighted.
It might not be those exact players, but the principle remains.

I hope my faith in Gibson is not mistaken and he does re-invest for promotion and I hope Scott and him provide Wilder with the talent in time to make it count.
As with most things, timing is everything.

Tav is being bought by a Premier League club is one quite big difference if O 'Hare is not wanted by a Premier League club it surely affects the value.

If Cov need to sell then the market will decide. As you say, if there is no premier league or parachute cash then the money offered will be less and then Cov need to make that decision on the players value to them. The other factor for them is that if O’hare, Hamer or Gyorkeres dont sign extensions then they will go into the final year of their contracts after this season.
