Obi-Wan Kenobi - Disney+ (Possible Spoilers)

I don't think it's ever made clear that they are total strangers but she doesn't treat him like someone who went out of his way to rescue her 10 years ago.

Maybe Leia is a droid and she had a memory wipe.
I'm not sure they actually meet face to face in ANH IIRC. On the Death Star Obi Wan goes off to disable the tractor beam while the rest rescue Leia. She maybe sees him get killed by Vader just before they escape. (If that's what you're referring to, that is).

Anyway, enjoyed them, especially the second episode. Daft stuff always happens. Its make believe after all. I liked the reaction of Obi Wan when he heard that Vader was still alive. Owen is a good character too.

Yeah - that's a good point. I was thinking more about the "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're our only hope." bit.

She doesn't sound like someone talking to an old friend.

Yes, to be fair, it's quite a significant thing to not have been referenced at all later. Still entertaining, and I liked how the girl had the sassy Leia attitude.

How would you talk to someone you met at 6 year old and probably have little memory of?

She's 10.

But the fact she never had any direct interactions with him in the film excuses it.
It's not like they all sat around chatting about him at any point, bar when he'd just died and there were more important things going on than reminiscing about a childhood event.

Yep. Really enjoyed that. Ewan McGregor is really going for it.

Not sure Vader meeting Obi-Wan so early is sensible but we'll see how it pans out.

The biggest problem they're going to have is maintaining self-consistency with the current canon Star Wars universe.

I’m enjoying it but I have had to convince my self that star wars years are shorter than earth years to explain why an 8 yr old is playing a 10 yr old… 😂

I don’t know if I’m quoting verbatim, but doesn’t he say….Obi Wan…now that’s not a name I’ve heard since…oh before you were born…in A New Hope…to Luke.

I know he’s telling people it’s 'Ben' these days but at he very least he’s heard the name 😁

I think the series is boiling up quite nicely, with only 6 episodes it could of quite easily dragged on for 3-4 episodes just on backstory but they have keep it moving forward.

Annoyingly though, as with everything it seems these days, it's been picked to death by plot hole enthusiasts. Taking out the fact that A New Hope is 45 years old, people don't say things with 100% accurate recall.

With the Star Wars universe being so vast and old, it's going to be impossible to create new stories without stepping on the toes of others to some extent, but people are taking things too literally.

It's two different quotes.

When
Obi-Wan rescues Luke and R2 from the Sand People
he says "that's not a name I've heard in a long time".

When they're talking later he says "a name I haven't gone by since before you were born".

I suppose, depending on your point of view, he might have been called Obi-Wan by other people but he seems to be calling himself Ben, so he hasn't 'gone by' Obi-Wan..?

But that's part of the fun.

Trying to reconcile the universe with it's own 'world-building' is a side-effect of how popular that universe has become - and the fact it's been managed in so far as canon goes, pretty badly.

You can engage or ignore it entirely.

The abuse towards actors is different and should be stamped on from a great height.
