Novak wins his appeal Good Luck with the crowds

Live press conference by his family just brought to an abrupt end after they got a question about whether Novak was out attending events on 17th December when he announced he tested positive for COVID on 16th December.
Cowards.

novak is a clown and sees rules as for someone else, but like Doris Johnson.
Good luck answering those questions on being out whilst having the virus

I must admit to being rather confused now about the whole situation. I presume Djokovic had no intention of defending his title up until December 16th as he was probably aware he wouldn't be able to get into Australia as he had no grounds for an exemption. And then hey presto he gets Covid on December 16th and the exemption presents itself to him and he's set to go!

Yeah, I've wondered about this too. Seems fortuitous! I did cross my mind whether he was stupid enough to get deliberately infected. As you say, it was just chance. (The other thought us that he just claims to have had it in December, but actually didn't. However, I would have thought that there would be very serious repercussions if that was found to be the case).

Yes except he had until December 10th to apply for an exemption - so he may have been aware when applying that he would need to catch covid to actually get into Australia!

I'm certainly not defending Djokovic here, but is it possible that he took a test on the 16th, and didn't know the result when he was out and about? That said, if he had no symptoms, what was he taking the PCR test for in the first place?

Edit: As per my post a couple back, perhaps he WAS trying to catch Covid, and was going out and about to do so, and taking PCRs all the while to monitor it. Sounds completely bonkers, but who knows!! Cardiff mentions above that catching Covid looked like his only way in to the tournament by that stage.

Out on the 18th as well, photo shoot for L'Équipe:

That would presumably depend if they were expecting not to have to follow the same rules as everyone else or not because of who they were I guess.
Professional footballers already don't follow the same rules as everyone else.

Or of course pretend he caught it and get his medical team onside but that would be scandalous wouldn't it. No refuse to believe he would do that. I'm positive (no sorry he was positive) he wouldn't do that

Referring to vaccine passports to get into the ground I assume.

Whether it's right or wrong the "rules" do not say the players competing need one. So yes they are following the rules. You understand there's a difference between being a spectator and a player surely? If they wanted to go and watch a sporting event as a spectator they would have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

If you think that's the same as the Djokovic situation then I think your logic is flawed.

Because it's ridiculous.
It wasn't my comment that you were referring to. I was looking at Randy's comment objectively, and it wasn't really ridiculous.
Starting posts like yours is just inflammatory. It doesn't help the discussion.
Anyway, suit yourself. You likely have little interest in what I'm saying!! (y):)

Agree. I think the penalty for being caught doing that would be huge.

One does wonder if we ever find out which Boro players haven't been vaccinated wether they would receive the same vitriol this singular Serbian tennis player has?

You clearly don’t read any of the football threads on here…..our players receive worse levels of ‘vitriol’ for misplacing a pass! 😂

I thought the rules they were referring to would be regarding travel and footballers. Throughout the pandemic there has been exemptions made for footballers to travel to countries and play matches.

Ah maybe. Either way they're exemptions or "changes" to the rules that apply/applied to all footballers.

I suppose Djokovic and his team will argue that there was a similar exemption that applied to everyone who has tested positive. And that might well be the case. If so fair enough. But there seems to be some confusion over what the exemption actually is and who it applies to. The Australian government seem to feel strongly it does not apply to Djokovic. All the appeal did was show that someone made a pig's ear of handling it.

That wasn't my question. Warnock alluded to a few squad members not been vaccinated towards the end of his tenure. Wether that's changed or not I don't know. More than likely has for the better. But if there are some who choose to remain unvaccinated for whatever their personal reasons will people on here still continue to support them in their work for the club?

The authorities will handle Novak's case accordingly.

Fair point. It's hard to keep up with the latest boo boy. It's Spence at the moment (on twitter anyways). 🤣

Djokovic is a weird one. I'm guessing that most people so extraordinarily talented and/or driven are a breed apart.

Although maybe molecules in water do react “to our emotions, to what is being said" or holding a slice of bread makes people with gluten intolerance weaker.

No you said professional footballers don't follow the same rules as everyone else. That's what I was responding to.

Look I've even quoted it for you. As I did when I responded to that point.

Vaccinations aren't mandatory obviously and if Djokovic plays in the AO and gets abuse it won't primarily be because he's not been vaccinated. It'll be because it's been perceived that he's been treated differently.

Ah I get you. Yes the passports. Also some breaking the rules during lockdowns 👍🏻
