Arne Slot said Forest are in the title race, probably to relieve abit of pressure on Liverpool. But are they actually? Leicester did the unexpected, could Forest?

Probably not but you never know. It would be great if my local team could help me overcome (at least temporarily) the continuous disappointments inflicted on me by the Boro! I've got my ticket for the City Ground tomorrow night, before back to reality on Saturday at Fratton Park. UTB/You Reds! ;)

They're in it until they're not .. even if nobody thinks they have any real chance , if they're up there and still picking up results then .. they're in it. We see it often - most notably Leicester .. " .. oh they'll drop away eventually" .. I remember it was being said about Ipswich last year in the Champ .. Luton .. maybe even Sunderland this year .. Sometimes, they hang in there and surprise people ..

I think we can only make that decision after tomorrow's game. If they beat Liverpool for the second time this season then they need to be at least considered a strong candidate for finishing second.

Liverpool travel to Forest tomorrow and it should be a good game. For me, Slot is telling his players that it won't be easy but they have an opportunity to open a gap between one of the chasing pack.

I can't see Liverpool imploding so don't think Forest will win it. I do enjoy watching them play though.

See here's the thing. Everyone says be like Brighton! Be like Brentford! Because they have done well. No one says be like Leicester. Leicester did far far better than either of the two Bs but no one says we should emulate them. Why? Because it's seen as luck. As a fluke. Brighton is seen as a model that we can copy and do well. You cant copy luck.

And here we have a team sitting third in the table. They don't play passy passy football. They play counter attacking football like Leicester.

For as well as Brighton and Brentford have done, isn't there something to be said for employing a coach who is able to set up a counter attacking side. It is cheaper to buy disciplined players than technically gifted ones.

Here in the US, where Arsenal and Chelsea shirts abound and the first question I get when people hear my accent is which team do I support*, I'm already seeing Americans suddenly deciding they're Nottingham Forest fans. A bar in my city has become a Forest bar. You know you've made it when overseas glory hunters start getting interested.

*They always lose interest when they hear the answer

If you get bored of the genuine answer, try saying you support the "Arsenal Gunners". It amuses me no end, especially when it's received as a perfectly acceptable answer 😁

Nothing against Forest but they have simply proved that if you spend a fortune and get away with a small points deduction then you have half a chance of competing for a season or two.

I'm happy for my local team to do well, but if Boro are struggling, any success for them doesn't help one bit.
That would be even more the case if my local team were (sort of) competitors who I resent being above us and who I am a bit jealous of. Including Forest.
See also Wolves, Fulham, Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Ipswich. Maybe even Aston Villa tbh. To name some of them.
'94-'04 ruined everything for me. I feel like Icarus.

If Forest aren’t in the title race then there isn’t a title race (which to be fair there won’t be if Liverpool win this midweek).
