… but with Newcastle splashing the cash is their Chris Wood a possible signing on one basis or another? Not overly prolific but a link up man? I can’t see him getting any game time up there now and obviously we are still in the market. I’d MUCH rather see Armstrong or Larsen but I just have this 40 years of following the Boro hunch that we may miss out on all of our targets as other clubs chuck silly money around this week…

I have to say im Moist at the prospect of gykores and muniz.....but he's linked to Everton..
 
I'm sure that when he signed it was reportedly a wage significantly higher than Saint Maximin's, so Mr Wood will be going nowhere soon if that is the case.

I think he's been getting subbed on in their games so far, so it's not like he's kicking his heels yet.

If we were to get Armstrong I imagine it would be on loan. That would be our last loan, so we would then have to buy 2 midfielders. Of those linked is it feasible to buy Ampadu and Mejbri ? I know we can have more loans but only five can be in match day squad. I dont think the club carry passengers any more if they dont have to.

I'd think the likelihood of getting Armstrong is very close to zero. He's been starting for Southampton and I think they're gonna need all the players they can get this year.

Think it'll be on a top tier CM. Wouldn't have a clue which one though, could be someone not even mentioned yet, similar to how Clarke just appeared out of left field like a guardian angel escaped from a grizzly Scandi noir thriller.
 
Did nothing today but then again despite a load of possession Newcastle have looked toothless without Callum Wilson.
