Alright all,

Us, the fam or off to Devon in August and it's time to have a look to see what's to do and where to go.
I have boys aged 11 and 14 so are very active.

All suggestions welcome

Cheers

World of country life is a good full day out. My two lads are a bit younger but loved it.

Clovelly - beautiful village on the side of a cliff. Definitely worth going to.

Lynton & Lynmouth. Great seaside towns.

Exmore & Dartmore for walks

Depending on exactly where you are it may be worth the drive to go the the Eden Project over the border, or Tintagel for a bit of King Arthur

I lived their for a few years and used to enjoy trips their with my teenage son.
North Devon is heavy on surfing and body boarding, fantastic beaches to be found. I preferred Croyde, but Woolacombe and Saunton are also good.

I lived in North Devon for about 6 years and agree with the comments above re Lynton and Lynmouth, Woolacombe. Devon’s beaches really are lovely, and Devon is a very picturesque county.
Clovelly is a special village and it’s possibly worth mentioning ( certainly to a tightwad like me) that it costs to park in Clovelly so an idea is to park in Woolacombe and walk to Clovelly along the beach.

Devon of course is a very wet county being hit by weather from the west Atlantic and the east English Channel, but it is a great place to live and visit although the accent is sometimes tricky. I never understood a word one of my neighbours Dave S said in the time I lived there.

I would recommend Lynton and Lynmouth as well. Woolacombe beach was lovely and big but can get really busy in summer. Croyde beach (slightly to the south) is like a mini-Woolacombe if you want a bit more space to yourself.

We also went sea kayaking from Combe Martin beach which was really fun. Get a chance for some unique views of the coast whilst also learning some of the history of the area.

I worked in the shipyard at Appledore in the 80's and stayed on a holiday camp in Westward Ho (nice beach). North Devon (Devon) is a beautiful place to visit with some beautiful coastal towns and villages. It is worth your while just meandering along in the car and coming across the different villages.

My Mum lives in Combe Martin. Great area to explore from. Staunton Sands, Woolacombe, Croyde, Lyndon/Lynmouth all in easy reach.
The walkover the headland from Woolacombe to Croyde is amazing

Woolacombe is ace. Pop just over the border in Cornwall too to Bude which has a sea pool by the beach. cliff walks too. Tintagel is great too as suggested.

We went to Big Sheep too which the kids loved but I think it will be too young for your kids.

Another vote for Tintagel, fantastic place.
If you are driving along the road to/ from Boscastle then you have this location, https://www.google.com/search?q=St+...eW7zPP9xjeBSkM6xxeeRazX_5CJIQAAAA&bshm=lbse/2 it used to be hidden from the general public knowledge but there came a tipping point around 2005 where people were visiting it in such numbers it officially became a tourist attraction. Well worth the visit. Cornwall is full of mystical hidden places, but you have to keep your ear low down and hope you get lucky.

I agree with much of what you said, but to avoid paying for parking, that is a long walk from Woolacombe to Clovelly.
