Non essential shops to reopen

this is what people are struggling with, the prioritisation around concessions on the lockdown, people would surely want to see family members than wander round the shops with a lot of total strangers......

Obviously it would be great to be able to see family and friends again but there is no economic benefit of doing so. At least opening shops contributes to the economy and stops even more jobs being shed even if it is less of a priority to most people. Seeing family will be the last thing to be allowed because of that reason.

Looks like it could be happening sooner rather than later.

True. I've seen plenty of people having visitors. Seeing people socially will make no difference to me if it has to be outside anyway. None of our family is local so they aren't going to travel for hours just to sit in a park. Need to be allowed to have people in the house.

'the price of everything, the value of nothing' springs to mind

The wealthy continue to make a hash of the nation and their minnions do the talking for them.

Ordinarily I'd agree. I would love nothing more right now. I had a baby 2 weeks before lockdown kicked in and the family haven't all met her yet but me being able to see my family won't help anyone pay their bills. Whereas opening up shops will keep businesses afloat and people in jobs.

In Skegness today you could get beer in a plastic glass at one of the ice cream stalls, burgers ,fish and chips, sausages in a bun ,coffee, all takeaway, oh KFC is open for drive through or takeaway.
Car parks are all open and travellers are camped in Tesco's car park!

It's a fecking ridiculous state of affairs we have done the worst possible job of reopening..
Everywhere else:-
Schools and hairdressers amongst the first and of course you can see family members just be sensible mitigate the risk.

Here:-

You can go anywhere outside and cause havoc (see the beaches yesterday and brawls no less), b and q on a Wednesday when the moon is a quarter full and from next week car showrooms on Thursdays and every 3rd Tuesday because you know... That's the first thought on everyone's mind right now. (I know these aren't real rules just for comic affect)...

Just stop the nonsense now, none of the measures being kept in place are doing anything other than creating division, anger and sadness. Not to mention poverty.
