Non essential shops to reopen

Convenient timing to announce that one eh?

Getting bombarded from all angles over Cummings. "Announce the reopening of shops"!

Markets and car show rooms from next week, everything else from June 15th.

Are they seriously going to try and keep car parks shut at the beach and tell people they cant see family once the town is reopened? Seriously doubt anybody will be accepting that.

Maybe those people who are adult enough will make their own decisions, and not use the actions of a buffoon as an excuse.

Agreed, my big concern is those that might have been "on the fence" with regard to beaches etc now just saying "stuff it - if he can do it, so can I"

I think a lot of people have gone half back to normal anyway after his last announcement.
There was a press conference slide a week ago that said 80% of people were only leaving home for permitted reasons. That number will be falling but there are a lot of people living life in anything but a normal way. When shops open they will probably reduce the 2m social distancing to 1m and those that have concerns now will be increasingly concerned.

While out exercising I'm seeing a pretty big increase in groups of people meeting up. Many of them look like multiple generations of families and groups of adolescent friends. It does feel like adherence to the rules is waning.

It was almost completely gone yesterday. Groups of kids down by the river, large groups wandering around.

It's almost as if a senior government figure had broken the rules and been defended by the whole cabinet so everyone else has just gone "feck it"
