Noel Gallagher - new album details

I kind of see it from Noel's point of view. The guy was kicked around by a drunk dad for years, got himself out of that situation and then when his brother's had a drink he turns into a similar vicious gobshite trying to drag everyone into the fight. We all know the type and we all try to avoid them, family or not.

Noel might talk a lot of **** in the press but he always talked very fondly of being a dad and a husband, so I bet he won't admit it, but it's probably a tough moment for him.
I can totally see it from Noel's point of view. Liam may be a 'loveable' rogue with all the swagger the kids love (as I did in 1995) but he is also a bit of a bellend, I suspect more so when he's drunk than sober. I know people who've met him sober and said he is sound. Some of the stuff he has tweeted towards Noel etc was out of order over the years, but the fact is Liam holds more appeal to youth, even now. Noel was always the brains behind the operation.

Yeah, I don't mean to get too weird about it but I actually think their relationship is sad if you analyse it.

Noel is probably a bit of a cold person but it's not his fault, he will be like that because of the mental and physical abuse he endured from their Dad as a child. On the other hand I've always gotten the impression that Liam has always idolised Noel and has never understood why Noel has never accepted him. Maybe Noel has always secretly resented the fact that he was the one who got abused and not Liam.

There was a really sad segment during the Supersonic film where they both talk about their Dad turning up at a Dublin pub with a Journalist, trying to create a scene. Liam wanted to attack him but Noel calmed him down and I remember Noel saying "I thought f**k him, he doesn't mean anything to me anymore, we were better than that". He then said "I did think Liam was a bit upset" and you can almost hear his voice crack when he says it. It shows that Noel does still care about Liam really but I don't think they will ever be able to mend their relationship.

Yeah, again he did himself no favours tweeting all that stuff about Noel but again I got the impression it was out of anger that Noel was ignoring him. One minute he'd be tweeting to say let's get the band back together and then the next tweet he'd be ranting about Noel.

This video shows what Noel probably had to put up with during their touring days. I'm not saying Noel would have been an angel himself but I can understand why he wanted out in the end.

Yes and I suspect booze played a big part in his mood changes.

Exactly - imagine having to cope with that unpredictability on tour for months at a time. There comes a point where its not an enigmatic magic lead singer, its a brother who doesn't seem to give a **** about the hard work needed just to stand still. I'm sure Liam's great if he's buying you a pint in Primrose Hill and telling war stories, but pecking at Noel's head for years on end while he doesn't keep up his end of the bargain of actually being a good singer - no wonder he walked.

This is the message Liam sent to Noel's Daughter. You really can't blame Noel for not wanting to reconcile with Liam after this.

Yeah, totally out of order. Yet Liam is seen as the more popular figure amongst the 'woke' youth of today.

I suppose Sara did bait him a bit, but still, there's a dark tone to that message.

Newy have you got the chords yet? I know its capo 1, Em/Bm something then Amaj7. Chorus is the old classic: G, Cadd9, Em, D. Am missing a few though.

I've always had a soft spot for Liam. I was a kid in the 90's. Oasis were the first band I got into in a big way and Liam was my idol at the time.

I think in a way he has become a bit of a caricature of himself these days though and tries to create this image of still being the same person he's always been.......'a man of the people', whereas Noel has become a snob and forgotten his roots, when in actual fact I just think Noel has matured and doesn't care what the fans think of him. Artistically he's doing what he wants to do, whereas Liam seems to be trying to pander to the fans by making his solo project more of an Oasis tribute act than anything else.

It's worked out well for him to be fair, it was an amazing achievement to sell out two nights at Knebworth as a solo artist, but I'm not sure I fully buy into this whole talk of him being the one being true to himself.

Same.

And yes I agree, Liam's 'new' or 'rehashed/same old' persona has a shelf life just as it did in the 90s. Whereas I don't think Noel is really trying to market himself to any particular audience or in any particular way, he has plenty of money and is just doing what he wants.

I hope this divorce doesn't affect his artistic goals. The new track is great and I am really not fussed about seeing Oasis headlining Glastonbury again or whatever.

And when he headlined 2 nights at Knebworth 50% of the songs performed and the full encore were the anthems written by Noel. That's why Noel has moved on - he doesn't have a point to prove about Oasis and will always be able to write songs (whether they are any good is a different argument), whereas Liam can't fall back on that.

Liam's had a great run as a solo artist but I don't think he's going to be able to sustain it. His last solo album was pretty underwhelming in my opinion and I can't see the desire for fans to see him play a big stadium gig being there in the future.

Not even the Ethiad?

I have no interest in either of them. It's like reading about Harry and Meghan, he said-she said.
