No Striker this window

Posted earlier, but fits here. These are the top tens of players in the champo for attacking stats from Bein sports website. We only have one player in there. McNair is 10th on crossing (from corners I assume). Until we have a few more players appearing in the stats as an attacking force, I think we'll miss out on the play-off spots.

So, if it is correct we are.......

Goals scored 10th
Goal conversion 5th
Total shots 9th (but two shots off 6th)

So we're having plenty of shots, we convert a decent amount of our chances (I'm surprised by this) but we are average scorers around the middle of the pack.

So do you try and create a lot more chances for our misfiring forwards, or sign someone who can put away more of the chances we do create?

It’s a real sign of how far we have fallen that we now see little aspiration or hope from fans in a transfer widow. The window used to be full of excitement and wild speculation that was great fun and had us daring to dream. Now we just completely accept we are living on fresh air and even loan signings are beyond our capabilities. We have rapidly become a very tolerant and submissive fan base accepting of our situation. I can imagine quite a few of our rival championship club supporters reacting very differently. It is sad to see clubs we thought of as never being as big a draw as us and with little or no Premier League pedigree now signing players and spending money we can only dream about. As I say we accept frugality and commercial survival rather than success as our main aspiration.

Ahh come in I don’t think it’s all that bad - covid has not only hampered us but other teams. There hasn’t been huge amounts of activity anywhere from what I can see.

I have to say Duffman nails it. Our 2 main strikers are rubbish - under normal circumstances they would be in no doubt what the fan base thought of them. Now? Some posters try to defend them. To not bring in any striker is a mistake in my opinion. It is the obvious piece missing from the jigsaw.

Such a shame we missed out on Keiffer Moore (£2m) and got Akpom (£2.8m).
We've had no luck on the transfer front for a while now.
Must be time for lady luck to shine on us soon!

Pearson / Johnson / Powell out of contract June
Wallace / Hamer , create
Hourihane creates - Loan
Lolley not getting a game , Swap for Britt ?
Klimala - Loan
Sam Gallagher - swap for Fletcher / Akpom
Woodrow - Swap for Fletcher / Akpom
Itten - swap for Akpom / Fletcher / Britt
Zohore - Loan
Neil knows what we need , but can he do a bit of wheeling and dealing

I don't think we ever came close for Moore. He apparently always wanted to go to Cardiff and Warnock hinted we were 'used' to probably bump up price / wages.

He's the exact 'type' we need. He's a unit but pretty mobile. I saw a few highlights of Cardiff on sat and he came off the bench (after injury) and won everything in the air..... Almost changed the game single handedly.

I just can't believe we bought Akpom to play the role he plays? He's never been or going to be a loan CF who can lead the line. The amount of balls we hammer forward only for him to get beat in the air or Britt to jump into a defender and give away a foul.

It's a Warnock style tactic being used without the players to do it. I'm pretty gutted we ain't after another forward. I know Fletcher coming back but he's tall but still pretty gash in the air and hardly physical.

There's probably an element of expectations being lowered over the years thanks to Monk, Pulis and Woody. But I'd also like to think most recognise the financial constraints were under due to covid and no income. Hard to blame the club for that.

I know many weren't alive, but surely all fans are well aware how close we went to going out of existence and are just pleased were relatively secure right now.

I don't think there's anything wrong with fans not whining about signing players etc during a pandemic when people are losing or at real risk of losing their jobs. In fact I'm pleased that's the case actually. We all would like to see improvements in the playing staff, but I think most also have a healthy sense of perspective right now.

Harry Redknap would have a field day with our squad wheeling and dealing
I’m surprised and shocked Neil isn’t doing the same .
He even said he may have to do some swaps .
Still time . In Warnock we trust
Kyle Joseph Wigan CF
Luke Jephcott PAFC CF No10
Kwadwo Baah Rochdale LW
Carlos Mendes Gomes Morecambe RW
young decent players who could back up what we have for a low outlay of £3m for all 4 .
one sale and those 4 would be our future .

The problem is we can't 'wheel and deal' due to the wages we pay. You can't move someone on who's on 2-3 times the average champo wage.

I imagine even Wing is on decent money compared to a player at PNE / Millwall etc.

We have had the same miss firing forwards since Monk. We can't move them on because they have no resale value and on absolute fortunes in wages.

Free agent like Wilfred Bony we could sign.
No we couldn’t , and we don’t want old has beens on big wages .
Trainguy - A team will take Britt and Wing this window .
S7 - Britt is on big wage of £35k pw
Wing - affordable to most clubs
Agreed , we have over paid for too many .
Things HAVE to change .
