He was never being used, he just had him in the bench as we can have 9 subs and wanted him in and around the squad. No point making him sit on a coach to Huddersfield. Where’s Gilbert? Must be off. Dieng?….clearly leaving. Coburn? Signed for Man U I’ve heard.But Carrick basically admitted on Saturday that he had no intention of bringing Chuba off the bench. He just wanted him to get that 'matchday feel'.

We've heavily rotated anyway, and there are young players who might benefit from the minutes from the bench in a competition that won't hugely impact our season.

Ridiculous.
He doesn’t need a shop window after last season and we already have interest in him. What he does however need is minutes to get some kind of match fitness as he’s had no pre-season. Even if it was 20 minutes.

I think he'll probably go, but tonight is an irrelevance for me. He was never coming on on Saturday, Carrick said he just wanted him involved in the atmosphere. I don't think tonight is the same, away tie in the early rounds of the league Cup, no benefit in him going. Coburn is also not there

It probably just keeps someone's morale up I guess if they've been away from the group all summer? I don't think he'd have done it if there weren't now 9 subs

I still don't get why there are people that think him being injured has been some big lie. If he wasn't injured the club wouldn't say he was, there's no reason to. We're one of the least transparent club in the country, to the point of frustration most of the time because we get radio silence on all sorts, never know transfer fees, anything, but suddenly on this matter the club is supposedly publicly lying for no reason.

Chuba was very clear talking about his injury the other day also. If we are keen to sell having him not train all summer wouldn't be great for maximising a fee

I think he will go. He'll want to play in the Premier League of the opportunity comes. Absolutely no bitterness from me. We loaned him out for most of his contract, he was fantastic when he returned, we would probably make a profit on the fee. Tonight was the perfect opportunity to get some minutes after no matches in pre-season.
