No PCR tests....

I've just got the dreaded double lines on a lateral flow test. I know ive got it as coughing all night and headache.

I'm fine. The point being I'm off work today anyhow. You used to have to get it backed up with a PCR. None available unless NHS.

So does the lateral flow 'secure' time off with work? I've not phoned in yet as off today anyhow.

Probably going out in London on new year's eve wasn't the best idea😂

That'll be down to the individual company I would imagine. If you are looking for an isolation support payment, you'll need a pcr confirmation but I you're not on that route, your employer will have to make a judgement call on whether an lfd alone is sufficient

I'm booked into a local walk up site. I didn't really understand how you could go whist having a cough and bad head.

The website says it ok. So I'm leaving the house knowing I've got it. Absolutely none available through post.

I'm looking forward to a week off. Although good chance the missues is going to catch it. That effects the box set selections😂

Can’t you work from home ?

Why would you want to pay for a PcR test when NHS tests are free? When/if it does confirm prepare for almost daily calls from the T and T team.

Yes my sister has just said about the phone calls. Oh well.... It was always going to happen. I've done well to go this long.

I'm alright. Just a bit of a headache and a cough. It was maybe Blackpool. Although more likely new years eve.

it could have been any exposure over last 10 days.

There’s been an incident here in NZ. Omicron hasn’t been in the community here and therefore the following caused mild panic in Auckland this week.

A British DJ arrived from UK and did the now customary 7 day Hotel Managed Isolation (it used to be 14 days). He is then if testing negative supposed to isolate at home for a further 3 days and if then negative he is free to roam. This particular fella decided not to isolate at home after a negative test on Day 8 and visit a few nightspots. Of course he then tested positive for Omicron! On Day 10.

He has had dogs abuse online of course and he has issued an apology. Fortunately no cases have been found although huge queues at testing stations ensued.

I struggled to get a PCR test anywhere closer than 60 miles away. Just keep trying as they release appointmants in dribs and drabs. Tried all evening then the next morning and nothing. Then suddenly around 1:00pm test were made available.

As for LFTs securring time off work I would say it is down to the company. I am retired so it doesn't affect me but my son's company told him he has to isolate for 10 days or until I receive a negative PCR result. He is negative daily on LFTs but has to phone in every day. Two days ago I had to send him a scan of my PCR positive confirmation as "proof" he wasn't lying. As you can imagine I was not happy having to send my personal information out but in the end did so for his benefit. I now have to have another lFT showing negative if he is allowed back before the 10 days is up. So I would say all companies have different policies.

If in Middlesbrough, I believe you can just turn up at the Pallister Park test centre.
I'm near Portsmouth 😂

I've managed to book in to a walk up site at 1730 tonight. Boss just said don't come in until you've had the PCR result.

I've definitely got it. 2 lines on a lateral flow but more so headache and cough. I felt 'odd' yesterday. A 5k run probably didn't help.

There’s a walk in centre in guisborough which doesn’t show in the website

I believe there are others in ormesby and Stockton

I was offered catterick and York when I was looking early hours of Sunday morning. I drove to Catterick. I looked later and the full north east was fully booked. I’ve since heard of people just turning up and getting tested at Berwick hills.

It's a farce. Utter shambles.
Mrs tested LFT this morning, our last kit having been trying to order more all week.
She's been trying to get a PCR, none available and the App is a shambles.... the 'no PCR reqd' doesn't come in until the 11th so what are people to do in the meantime.

Thankfully we're both fit and fully jabbed so should be OK but what would someone elderly do? Where would they turn for help?
More unecessary despair and misery heaped on the populace from a woefully inept government

I actually wrote this after testing positive on a LFT. I couldn't get a PCR anywhere online.

To be fair I quickly got booked in at a walk through about 3 miles away. It was on the same day and I had the result (positive) 15 hrs later. So I can't fault them for that. The actual walk through facility was brilliantly run and seemless.

I keep hearing about no symptoms. I've had the whole lot as in coughing/headache/loss of taste. I am actually alright now. So it seems to have peaked and troughed over about 4 days. Just a cough and blocked feeling nose now. Although still gotta isolate for a few days😒

That said it's all been relatively easy due to being reasonably tech savi and having a smart phone. I shudder to think how older generations get on without the apps to input data into or book tests. I mean everything from track and trace to covid passports are done through the apps.
