No Giles in the squad. Any info?

Well there's injuries and there's injuries.

Apparently most players are always carrying some sort of minor injury or issue. Think Ben Foster talks about it on one of his podcasts. It's rare they're 100% fit with no issues.

So if Giles is say, 80% fit maybe he'd usually have played if there was anything riding on it. But why risk it in the circumstances?

Same probably goes for any others "injured".
Absolutely agree. If it had been a play off game Howson would have played whether or not he felt sore behind his knee. We're in the fortunate position that we had 3 dead rubbers. I'm sure they are managing the squad for the big push.

It was all going so well, but is now derailing. Momentum lost.

Not anyone's fault, and I still believe that we can do it.

I genuinely believe we have very few injuries, think Carrick is playing a little gamesmanship.

Other than Fry i expect to see our first choice line up back and firing for first leg of the semi, maybe a few in for Cov

I don't think naming Howson in the starting 11 and then him withdrawing during the warm-ups was gamesmanship.

I'm hoping it's just precautionary, given he was walking okay after the match.

Likewise with Giles, hoping it's just seen as not worth risking him if there's a minor problem.

Bar those two, we went as full strength as possible yesterday.

Fry has been missing for far longer, during a period when automatics were still a very real possibility.
Forss would have made an appearance in the last two matches just for sharpness if nothing else, if he was fit.
We know Ramsey is back at Aston Villa getting treatment.

Ramsey is the big loss at the moment, and frankly Id rather we had Forss playing than Jones on the right.

It might be a case of players with knocks not wanting to risk anything ahead of the play off games and they may all suddenly declare themselves fit after the Coventry game - here's hoping!

How is it derailing man? Two dead rubbers that have absolutely zero significance.
If our players and coaches had the same defeatist losing attitude of some of our fans we really would be in trouble. Thankfully they don't.

Agree on forss.
Anyone know what the issue is with Forss ?
(I’ve not seen anything in terms of information about what he has done) 🤷‍♂️

It's derailing because we have lost all momentum due to injuries. As I said in my post, I still believe that we can do it. But where we were absolutely flying a few weeks ago, the loss of half of the squad due to injuries has made everything look like it is a lot harder than it was - but if we get back to where we were then it's game on.

So not so much derailing as hitting a few wet leaves on the line then.

Howson - calf strain..2-6 weeks
Forss - long term
Ramsey - May be fit for the final if we got there
Giles - injured in training.. unsure on the severity
Fry - Not doing too well Dael, it's complicated

So basically only Giles has a chance. Howson maybe too

I'm not saying they arent carrying little knocks, undoubtedly they are, but if we had a chance of auto's they'd of all, bar Fry, been playing.

Update on injuries

Not looking good for Ramsey. Swelling finally gone down so getting scan today.

Fry touch and go as he's been playing through pain barrier for a while but hoping to be back on the grass this week working with physios as last week he was on the sand pitches doing dynamic stretches and other cardiovascular drills.

Forss should be okay and hoping to be fit for Coventry game

Giles was simply being rested at weekend.

Not a clue regarding Howson atm

Apparently looking at change of shape for game against Coventry but hoping to go full strength other than Fry and Ramsey.

Not sure about your source, as you've posted three contradictory things about Ramsey in the last week.

First Ramsey no chance of play offs

Second Ramsey definitely fine for the play offs

Third Ramsey might be fine for the play off final.

It's almost like your making it up as you go along.
