No excuses. That’s not good enough

Carrick not learnt from the Coventry play off. Teams have rumbled us and if they sit back they know our midfield of Sammy sideways can’t break them down or shoot from range
It was just flat, that’s two home games with big crowds and poor performances. The season has started and we’re miles off.

That soporific friendly was not a one off. That’s us at the moment

If you add to that very similar performances in the last five games of last season it's certainly no one-off. This (unless recruitment pull some rabbits from a hat in the next 26 days) is the new us. And it doesn't look good. A much stronger squad than this came up short last season, partly due to Wilder's abysmal start. But even he didn't lose the first home game.

Coventry turns into a must win already as our objective is automatic promotion challenging for the title we can't be letting sides build up an advantage.

Ha ha,

I don’t think anyone’s going that far. But that is a really tough games next week. Hopefully we can bring in a bit of quality

I think we should all be waiting to see how the squad looks after the window closes before we speak about targets for the season, and that includes Carrick.

Think he's been a bit naive to say the target is top two when at this moment in time we're a long way off being good enough to challenge for it, although that may change if we can make 3/4 quality signings.

Because of who we are, and our history, there is usually an expectation that we will be challenging for promotion every season. In many ways our previous successes can feel like an 'Albatross around our neck' situation.

Maybe we should change our mentality and thinking style. Maybe start to think like the lower 'unfashionable' teams, Rotherham etc, whose aim each year is to avoid relegation and consolidate.

That way we will not put unnecessary pressure on ourselves from the start and any wins will feel like a bonus. We can play with more confidence thinking we are the underdog in every game.

On more than one occasion our slow full backs were caught out by Millwall on the counter.
Mcnair is a centre half or defensive midfielder. Coulson tries hard but lacks pace.
Rogers 1 goal in 22 for Blackpool and we think he's good enough.??
Wake up.

It will settle down.

McNair makes one important mistake per match and quite often it results in a goal.

Millwall defended well and limited us to 16 shots mostly off target.

Carrick will sort it out.

Don't think pace is Coulson's issue, its more his ability.

His lack of strength for me is the big killer, as others have said he is too easily brushed off the ball. He got a few good blocks in today and tried really hard, but it says a lot when you're subbed and replaced by a midfielder playing out of position.

I thought Coulson kept drifting inside too much when we were attacking rather than showing himself as an option down the line, but that could have been team orders I suppose.

I liked him when he first came into the team but he hasn't really filled out physically or polished his rough edges since (decision making, final ball etc). I'd be happy with him as back up, but I think we need a solid starter there.

I feel we have the right to aim for the play-offs and see that as a being a realistic target. We finished 4th in the division last season and we were the 2nd highest goalscorers.

We've lost 3 or 4 key players but this is still largely the same squad of players that we had last season. If we can make 3 good signings at least before the window closes then I feel we should be aiming for the playoffs, but think automatic promotion will be out of reach regardless of who we sign.
