No Bags at Stoke

I cannot work out how this has anything to do with Covid?

At a stretch I'd maybe say rifling through the contents of a bag which may have covid particle on them, but then we're letting in people who may be positive anyway? Seems an odd one.
Am guessing it is to protect staff. It is the council/safety group introducing it - Covid measure to try to prevent any searches of people or bags.
I was wondering about this whether different councils/SAGS will bring in different measures around the country. Best to keep our ears to the ground before travelling.

Mostly "bag searches" at football grounds are simply a matter of opening the bag so that the steward can have a quick look inside. As mentioned above what will they do with purchases just made from the club shop? It seems a trifle OTT.

It seems some grounds might be contactless only as well. Am sure many will have seen this was happening pre-covid. Obviously not a lot of cash transactions have been happening of late for most of us but not all of us. And if you are not allowed to take your own drinks/food inside then you need to be wary. Contactless only at Bournemouth it seems.

Could be a case that if a steward handles or touches a bag that is contaminated, this could then be inadvertently transferred to the next bag they search thus spreading the virus.
Don't like it, but can understand it.

It does look like other grounds might have changed ground rules.
For instance - Hull City - now -rReduced bag sizes (now only a clutch bag, but no dimensions) also no flasks, or drinks bottles allowed.

The council has imposed this at Stoke - I wonder if this is a case of some people making a decision remotely without having any real experience of what happens.

Only clutch bags allowed? Who are they Ryanair? I saw loads at spurs last year who hadn't read the small print and brought bags with them. There were big queues outside anyway. It just seemed like a scam to rinse people of a fiver and make them miss the start of the match or miss it altogether. Maybes they want to stop people bringing food into the ground so they can sell their overpriced tat.
