Dijksteel and Silvera ?
Or maybe change formation and go 3 CB’s and wing backs maybe Jones and Bangura.

I think going to a back 3 might be best

Senny
Rav Clark Engel
Jones Bangura
Howson O'brien
Finn Hackney (if fit, otherwise struggling)
Manu

It seems as if Hackney has gone backwards in his fitness doesn't it? Not even been on the bench last 2 matches after being on the bench against Swansea. Is Bangura fit?

Ayling is going to be a big miss.

Surely got to play Dijksteel though.

Silvera and Greenwood are both equally ineffective lately, so we'll probably not notice a difference there.

I wouldn't be surprised if Howson goes back into CB or RB and Barlaser come in instead of Dijksteel.
He doesn't seem a fan of Dijksteel.

Yeah, I agree that he clearly doesn't rate him.

I'm just not a fan of playing Howson at CB unless there's literally no choice.

You could be right though, we might see Van den Berg at right back again.

It does depend on whether any of our walking wounded are fit enough to start.
I would go to 3 at the back. If Bangura is fit enough I would start him. If not, it gets more complicated.

No Bangura? Either bring Dijksteel in as RCB with Engel as a wingback or use O'Brien as a wingback (he has played there from time to time) and bring Greenwood in alongside Azaz. My actual preference though, without Bangura is

Dieng
RVDB Clarke Engel
Jones Howson Barlaser Azaz O'Brien
Finch Latte Lath

Give Finch an actual game. He'll progress more in 60 minutes against Leeds than 3 months playing for the U21s and occasionally watching from the bench.

Greenwood can't play either remember.

I would love to see Finch get an actual game but this would be a massive one to throw him into.

Maybe the last two would be more appropriate. I think even just giving him 3 sets of 30 mins over the next 3 matches would be good. instead of 3 or 4 mins. At least he would get a chance to get settled into the game. I don't think he touched the ball against Swansea when he came on.

MC might be tempted to stick with 4 at back
If so my choice

I'd be surprised if Ayling didn't turn up on the sky studio. He will be a big miss.

Greenwood not as much. I'd expect Silvera to start. Although I'd like to see Finch get some mins at some point. I'm not sure if he's a 'wide in a 3' type CF or an actual No9??

I think we'll start with this formation but not quite the line up... might see Howson drop into the 3 CBs and Engel as the LWB. Don't think we'll be seeing Hackney any more this season if he picked up another knock.

He's more the quick, nippy type - he's played on the right before and I guess could on the left but would be wanting to cut in. If we play 4 at the back I wouldn't mind seeing him start on the left but more realistically we might see him in the last 2 games.

I suspect we will go 5 at the back, he'd rather play Barlaser than bring Dijksteel in.

Dijksteel should be playing the rest of the season now to see if he is worth keeping

I would like to see Bangura as a LWB, Engel as a LCB, with Clarke CB, Rav RCB and Jones RWD. Howson, O'Brien in midfield, Azaz as a no10 and Latte up top. I would give Gilbert a go on the right with Sammy. Hackney (if fit) and Finch coming off the bench.

I expect that likely is the case. Although I don’t think we have seen him fully fit with a good run of games for a long time now. I still think he could be a good option
I think he’s a decent outlet, got a good engine, a bit of pace and carries the ball well but I just don’t think his close control and short passing is good enough for a Carrick team.
