Next season signings .

Yeah thats my issue with Swift too. I’d like the number ten or at least a versatile striker who could do both if not, but Wilder is a man that changes personnel not systems it seems. I see Swift as predominantly a number 8 (Payero/Crooks) but agree he has done the 10 too. I can’t see Swift moving north without thinking he was ahead of Payero and Crooks to start with and think his wages might be on the higher side, he wont be happy on the bench I think having 3 decent 8’s would be a bit greedy and money better utilised elsewhere. I’d be open to selling Crooks if Swift could be accommodated (mainly because of his disciplinary issues, he is a good player but a walking double yellow every game). I don’t think CW is impressed with him either now for that reason.
I agree and for that reason we have probably talked ourselves out of signing John Swift although he is a very good player. Wilder won’t sign him for 10 and he doesn’t work hard enough to be an 8 for him

Harvey Elliot last season too benefitted from that Blackburn loan. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him get another loan next season maybe to a lower Prem team

why? there are plenty that have been successful at this level. Fulham, Forest and Sheff Utd have several players that were largely playing U23s a year ago or are still under 22.

Neco Williams, Fabio Carvalho, Jayden Bogle, Gibbs-White, Brennan Johnson, Spence, James Garner, Anthony.

None of these had many starts in mens football. Some of the best players to play at this level were playing U23s before going on loan, such as Mason Mount and Harry Wilson.
Because we always make a hash of it.

Brynn

McNair
Fry
Dikjsteel

Bola
Tavarnier
Crooks
Howson
Jones

Coburn
Clarke Harris

Not much change for me, just a goalie which is where we have leaked points this year, hopefully one of our own promoted through the ranks, and up front where we have not taken our chances, so an affordable striker who has scored goals in a team which has struggled this year and is definitely within our reach. The problem with most loanees is we have to wait, and I rather we hit the season running rather than waiting to see what happens. + We have some good players in the background McGree, Payero, Taylor, Fischer, Peltier, Watmore and like suggested above bring Gibson back but not at the start as 1st choice.
Clarke Harris? That unit up front at Peterborough? I would hazard a guess that he is not a Wilder type olayer. Not for me.

Think you can rule out Wilder ever changing his system . Easier said than done but we need to be finding the likes of Gyokores before anyone else has spotted them or made their move . Presumably this was a big factor in the decision to recruit Scott .

Some players who have impressed me playing against Boro this season:

Shane Lavery and Josh Bowler - Blackpool
Gus Hamer and Callum O'Hare - Coventry
Callum Styles - Barnsley
Harry Toffolo - Huddersfield
Ryan Manning - Swansea
Massengo - Bristol City

Think any one of those would be a good and achievable signing, obviously unless Huddersfield go up.

A lad worth a look at bringing in on loan is Dane Scarlett. Young lad at Spurs, big things expected of him. Striker

Where would you play him? Instead of Payero or Crooks?
Big decision with Payero this summer. Is he in the plans or not? Was this season his bedding in period and next season he will kick on? Or is it a 'didn't work cut our losses' situation? Has the change of manager increased the chance of him being a success or decreased it?

Howson - Peltier - Bamba - Taylor
I can only realistically see Howson getting a new deal
Out of contract next summer - I can only see Watmore staying

Lumley - Daniels - Fisher - Hall - Ameobi - Watmore - Olusanya - Coulson - Akpom
So just to replace those in their positions and keep squad options:

we need:
- 2x GKs
- 2x CBs
- 1x utility defender
- 1x LWB
- 2x CM
- 3x CFs

(I didn't count the players loaneed out to other clubs, Ameobi and Fisher (injured all season) or Olusanya, but I did count the players we loaned in)

So that's 11 signings needed, of which 4 are first teamers, and 7 are squad players, just to stand still. I'd expect maybe 3 are loanees, and 4 are free transfers. So maybe 4 permanent signings in that mix

Really hard to say isn't it. Payero was in and out, played a couple of good games under Warnock. But under Wilder was only really fit and raring to go when Crooks was undroppable. When Crooks needed a spell out of the team or we wanted to switch it up from the bench Payero was injured.

I think from what I've seen he's worth persevering with, he just needs to buy into Wilder's vision and formation and do the job asked of him. Hopefully linguistically he'll be fully integrated ready for pre-season too, which will help.

Our goals, set piece delivery, assists and forward thinking crisp attacking passes from midfield have all been pretty much woeful this season. I think Payero could improve that.

I would like to see him have a full pre-season and kick on. He is a good technical player, handy on set pieces, I think we have to see where he can get to now he has settled in, girlfriend over, language issue improving, so for me, I think Wilder and Gibson will want to persevere and see how he can build on his stop start first season. Hopefully Wilder has seen enough one way or the other to justify the right decision for Boro.

I’d hate for him to be sold to go on and become say the next Juan Veron even

We have to replace 10 players with better .
4 loans to go in Balogun , Connelly, Siliki and Sporar.
The ageing Bamba, Peltier and Taylor need replacing with younger.
Hall, Ameobi, need off loading, Brynn and maybe more to go on loan.
Lewis Ferguson as captain would do for starters.
Darlow or Karl Johan Johnsson from Copenhagen for 1st choice keeper.
Michal Helik Barnsley CH
Chair from QPR AM
Branthwaite LCH efc - Loan
Rhys Williams RCH LFC - Loan
Jamal Lewis LWB NUFC- Loan
Gyokeres and Ohare from Cov would be great.
Piroe from Swansea, Woodrow from Barnsley, Obafemi from Swansea.

Not a bad team from that lot, add a couple of quality Centre forwards and we would be there about IMO.
Jordy Caicedo CSKA Sofia CF should be top of our list at £2m

You call that a list?!?! Lee Buchanan, Nabby Sarr, John Swift..

Well Chris Wilder wants players who know the league, team players with pace!!

We know we can't cope with the pressure of having our nearest and dearest taken away from us.. Spence maybe (even though it is a bitter pill to swallow) Fry and Tavernier are the big worries.. the big players!!
They both want to play in the premier league, we want to play in the premier league, we want to be sustainable, we want bargains and we want to go for the big prizes. Time to spin the wheel and go all in!!

Big money in from our biggest assets and a full squad overhaul.. with FREE TRANSFERS 18yo to 25yo plenty of miles on the clock and each one on them a potential star! Some choices are forced, some are made for us.

Looks alright to me!! Players that know the league (no mention of the premier league) we are two years away from where we want to be (two years from promotion?) Pfft LETS GET COOKING!!

I think if we can keep who we have we just need two more players.
How about these two?
Striker - Cole Stockton (Morecambe)
Goalkeeper - Michael Cooper (Plymouth)
