Next england manager

Knowing the FA and the way they have set up with Southgate behind the Scenes I wouldn’t be surprised if they stick with the same plan as before and promote from the under 21s

Step forward one of either Lee Carsley or Ashley Cole

Southgate looks like he is going down without a fight atm. Players aren't really pulling for him are they.
Probably because they are been asked to defend first and then nick the odd goal here and there (of which we haven't in five games now). A stark contrast to how these players play for their respective clubs.

Next manager needs to be a positive one.

Watch the pride of the Italians when singing their anthem compared to our lot of pampered overpaid pussies.

How about Rooney ??

Before anyone scoffs managing England doesn’t need managerial experience you can’t buy or sell anyone it’s about motivating tight but squad and tactically out think opponents. He really impressed in spell at derby and showed he can make player over perform.

I remember Boro fans in the holgate end around me calling for Bruce Rioch to be sacked when we got knocked out of the league cup by Villa in 87.
We were in the direst of dire straits when he took over and yet he somehow gave us a team to be proud of, on and off the pitch, but numpties were genuinely calling for him to go because we got knocked out of a competition which at the time was the least of our priorities.

Sound familiar?
Nope, not in the slightest.
And the Boro fans around you in the Holgate must have been nutters. Or invented 35 years later.

So you don't think Englands performances at major tournaments have massively improved under Southgate? Or that we were an utter embarrassment when he took over? Do you think the nations league is in any way important?

I think Southgate taking an England team from losing to Iceland to taking England to the final of the following European championships, is comparable to the miracles Sir Bruce performed for us. If someone had said to anyone in 2016, we'd get to the final of the next Euros they'd have thought them completely deluded.

Also I didn't invent it, they were nutters, one of whom was my brother in law. 🙄

As I've already said, for me Eddie Howe would be a good choice. However, if somebody like Mourinho, Tuchel, Conte, Guardiola could be tempted - I would go for one of those (as a non English alternative)
Tell you what, of all the names posted on this thread… Mourinho is the most likely.

He loves it here, England’s his family’s and spiritual home and is about the profile of a guy who’s ready to turn to international management. No obvious English candidate who’s easy to get. Also works well with how long he’s been in Rome.

Phwoar, that would be one hell of a ride.

No. But that wasn't the question I was answering.
I don't think people asking for Southgate to leave is the same as nutters asking for Rioch to leave in 87.

Plenty of successful international teams have played badly ahead of tournaments, only for things to “click” in the important competitions. Let’s see how the World Cup goes and then judge him. There is absolutely no chance of him leaving before then, nor should he.
