Newcastle Metro - How Do You Get Tickets etc?

Need to get from Newcastle central up to Longbenton and back - just googled and it waffles on about OPAL cards (which I don't have) - is there not a simple way to buy a damn return ticket and just do the thing these days?

Yes. Ticket machines in Central Station. Or you can buy on Northern Rail. At least that’s what I did when travelling to the airport from Billingham.

Machine in central station. Longbenton is zone B so just click return. When you walk down to the metro you will need to go on left side. You will need to get a metro which is going to coast. DO NOT get on airport one as you will go in wrong direction when it gets to south gosforth.
