You show me yours, I'll show you mine...................Any thoughts on who the head coach will be?
I have my thoughts but won’t be posting them
Wow, genuinely shocked by this. Is he the one who brought in Pukki and brought their good young crop through?
Don't patronise me Lizards. I understood your post. It doesn't alter the fact that you decided to look for a negative angle on positive news.I think my post has gone a little over your head, I'm not claiming we shouldn't have appointed him, but that he will be criticised even if he does really well as our (and other teams fans I must point out for the avoidance of confusion ) will criticise him based on their perception of what his job is rather than what it actually is.

Maybe it was you who didn't understand my post.
Who cares if a few anonymous posters find reason to moan about his appointment at some point in the future?
I think a lot of Boro fans would have been incredibly frustrated if we were Norwich - right now it looks great and the frequent promotions are fantastic but how would we cope with all the equally frequent relegations? They hardly ever buy when in the Premier - which is really prudent but am sure there would be many fans voicing concern if we did the same.
I do like Norwich and the way they are so patient - the next step for them is to become a Burnley I suppose.
Yep, when we went up last time I thought we’d make a real go of it, unlike Burnley had and Norwich had. How wrong I was. Especially when we didn’t invest in January. Very sad. Huge opportunity wasted. We literally spent £6M on Gestede, £6M on Bamford and £4M on Goudioura (Clearly a last minute panic buy) in Jan 17. That was £16M that needed to be spent on pace and creativity instead to get us playing further forward troubling defences and to supply Negredo. AK said so very publicly on BBC Tees after a game, we needed creativity and were given 2 championship centre forwards. Now I accept Bamford signing he will not have been unhappy with, but the fact was the club bought for relegation, not attempting to go for 17th or better by wasting so much time on Jese, Bojan and Snodgrass. Theey played us like a fiddle, giving us false hope and later said they had no intention of selling to a relegation rival. Naive at best Imho.I think we probably bought far more players in the summer transfer window before entering the Premier League than either Burnley or Norwich. Maybe we had nothing left in the bank in January. But whatever, the point is Norwich didn't break the bank last time they were in the Premier - they were relegated but did bounce back.. They retained most of the squad throughout. It worked out for them but will they stay up this time?
Give over. Your first reaction to the appointment was:Am I looking for a negative angle with the appointment, no.
My negativity is firmly towards the large sections of our fan base who will criticise the bloke whether he's successful or not, because they don't understand his role or what he's being brought in to do.
Perhaps messageboards aren't for you if you get upset over comments like that. Can you also point out where I've claimed that "We shouldn't have bothered trying to improve things behind the scenes" which is what you claimed in your original post when replying to mine.
It's pointing out the negativity of our fans, it's not a negative reaction to the rumoured appointment.Give over. Your first reaction to the appointment was:
"Great, someone new for the fans to blame when we don't storm the championship"
That is the point I was addressing.
To me it seemed to be an unnecessary, miserable reaction.
How much of the good work is Stuart Webber?
I know what you were doing. I just thought it was an unnecessarily negative point to make. Like the grumpy bloke in the pub who is never happy, always looking for the downside. It's pointing out the negativity of our fans, it's not a negative reaction to the rumoured appointment.
Don't worry, you don't understand sarcasm - no worries, but the internet is going to be a tough place for you. However forgive my reluctance to do laps of Albert Park based on the rumour we might have signed a sporting director, or not.
You really need to step away from the keyboard, once you've finished the open topped bus tour of the town based on the rumour we may sign a fitness coach.I know what you were doing. I just thought it was an unnecessarily negative point to make. Like the grumpy bloke in the pub who is never happy, always looking for the downside.
Oh and by the way, I do get sarcasm. Which is how I knew when you said 'great' you meant 'not great' or 'oh sh1t'. Otherwise I wouldn't have realised you were being a Negative Norma.
Cheers
