New Sky Premier League deal

Seems like a huge increase in the number of televised games.
Which usually means a nice increase in your monthly subscription.

Was hoping one of the big names like Apple, Amazon, ESPN etc… could have broken Sky’s hold on the PL this time but wishful thinking I guess.

Given some of the increase is from showing every match on the last day, I suspect that a big part of the increase will be from having the rights to broadcasting matches rearranged because of European football.

There were 4 matches kicking off at 2pm yesterday, and only one was televised in this country, and it was the worst one.

Sky's entire business model will disintegrate if they lose PL football rights, they'll throw everything at it every time. It does feel inevitable that it'll happen one day though.

Wouldn't the premier league make more money if they just sold the product direct via their own app and website than having broadcast partners?

I presume the answer is no as otherwise they would do it?

4% increase in the price paid. Sky have boxing day in full and all 10 final weekend games. Massive result for them.

TNT have 32 x Saturday 12.30pm games and some midweek rounds to make 55 games

Do we care? Bring an EFL club.

Seriously though, weren’t they going to drop the ban on televising 3pm games?

I for one hope we get a season in the Premier league during that deal lol. But alot more football for sky from next season with all the extra efl coverage

The 3pm slot looks like it may get lifted for the WSL. It won't be touched for the men until 2029 earliest now

Impacts lots of football fans, regardless of what league Boro are in.
Unless you're one of those people who only watches Middlesbrough matches.

they seem to be getting around the 3pm blackout by not having many games in that slot. Sky will be broadcasting 215 out of 320 games, so only 165 not being televised. That's way less than half the games falling into the traditional Saturday 3pm slot
