I know this. I took Robs reply to mean that using digital tickets would be an added benefit in being able to detect/ prevent misuse.

The light going on relies on extra staff being stationed at the turnstile throughout entry times on matchday. As you can imagine that needs a lot of people to be taken off other duties. I presume this will alert the club directly that someone else is using the ticket.

I would check the Middlesbrough app login that’s how I’ve had to get mine digital now

They will still need staff on the turnstiles though to check season cards and digital tickets. Someone could give their phone to another person to use as they can a season card. You still need stewards to observe when the orange light flashes.

I hope not. I'm sure MFC had a recruitment drive a few months back, so I don't think that is the reason.

It's getting phased in you will be told when it's your turn. Although I thought new season card holders were 1st to get theirs.

Got my sons first season ticket this year and have moved to the family zone and got the emails Friday to download our tickets. I've just emailed the form to MFC to request physical tickets as whenever I'm at work, my dad will be taking his grandson to the match and he doesn't have a Boro ID to forward the tickets to and even if he did, he wouldn't know how to work them anyway on his phone.

Other clubs check tickets before you even get to the scanning process

I got new season tickets for me and my boys in the family zone for this season. They've been visible in my account for a while but I only received an email on Friday saying I could download them to my phone, at which point the download link had appeared against each of them. I was about to phone the club to ask if we were getting physical cards and if so, where were they?

Yeah even with the old system that they’d had years to bed in you could pretty much guarantee huge issues every opening day as a sizeable minority of cards failed to be set up to work properly so this will be chaos.
