Snapped on my way to work this morning....
So he's over 35, a natural born citizen and has lived in the US for 14 years so he qualifies, but clerics (clergy) are forbidden "to assume public offices which entail a participation in the exercise of civil power" Canon 285.3 includes both elected and appointed offices. Theoretically the Pope can change Canon Law or even give himself a dispensation, but as that particular Canon was put in place because of US clergy in the first place I doubt he'd want to swap being monarch of the Papal States for the problems running for elected office in the US would give him.
Also having the office of Pope would bar him as Presidents can't have other offices, so he'd probably need to convert Trump and then convince him to do a job swap...
Yeah, seeing as there are working doors in the Vatican that predate Erik the Red's purported journey to the Americas in the 900s it is wild that they try to impose their less than 250 year old worldview onto the leader of an institution founded by Christ nearly 2000 years ago. Marxist thought was being opposed by Catholic intellectuals from the get go. You can't be a Socialist and a Catholic in full communion with the Church, as it demands the replacement of God with Man.
