New Music

After a second and third listen this is starting to really grow on me.
Glad you've stuck with it. Sometimes albums take just that bit longer for you to get them don't they. a case in point was the Black Midi album last year. After 4 listens I really couldn't see why people were loving it, I thought it was rubbish. By the 6th play I'd totally changed my mind and it ended up in my top 4 albums of last year

Beat Poetry For The Survivalist by Luke Haines & Peter Buck

The wonderful Luke Haines returns with Peter Buck in tow. On a side note if you have never read his books
  • Bad Vibes: Britpop and My Part in Its Downfall, 2009 (Published by William Heinemann Ltd)
  • Post Everything: Outsider Rock and Roll, 2011 (Published by William Heinemann Ltd)
you are missing a treat brilliant, hilarious, bitter and twisted. The first is the best but both are worth reading.
This album is on my list for this week with quite a few others!

One from The Blinders album due May.

The Blinders are one of those bands I know I'm going to love so I've got the vinyl on pre-order. Along with Porridge Radio, 2 Rowland S Howard albums, Lewsberg, The Lovely Eggs, Car Seat Headrest, Sleaford Mods complilation, Throwing Muses, Ist Ist, One Sided Horse & Stuart Mayor.

No doubt there'll be others added to that in the near future

Look out for a Leeds band called 'Yard Act' 😉 Saw them supporting Mush and Roxy Girls at the Brudenell on Saturday 🤩. They have a single out at the end of March...very hard to find anything else at the moment. Yesterdays Jam will have an exclusive stream of it before release day though if you're interested. Memphis Industries record label were sniffing about at the gig...very promising indeed 🧐

Guise - playing next week at The Empire - Tues 10th - support to husband Frank Turner.
Guise is the folk-pop project fronted by Jessica Guise, who happens to be married to Frank too.. She’s just releasing her first new music in 5 years, the 'The Fun Part’ EP - out this week + a the very touching new single ‘Brother in Arms’ - EP Produced by Frank Turner.

That's lovely

He's supposed to be fantastic live, isn't he?

With a bit of luck they will tour this.

Right, time for my favourite albums of the last week. First up and my favourite by miles is Ohms by Trees Speak. A limited edition came out an instantly sold out which prompted the record label to bring forward the release of the album. It must have caught them on the hop as there doesn't appear to be anything on Youtube from it yet, so I've added a video from there debut album instead. Check it out on Spotify though and I'll be off to give the vinyl a listen to shortly.
