New Music thread for 2023 peoples thoughts

Whats people thinking about the New Music 2023 thread. Do you want me to start it next year as we have done in 2021/2022. Last years seemed to get lots of views in fact over 42000 but less posters than 2021. Some who posted regular don't seem to post now at all. The main posters seem to be myself and Wyke Red. I have no problem posting as I like to check out new music. Let we know peoples thoughts. Thanks for the PMs some have sent also.

Then there is the Spotify playlist do people use that. I don't have Spotify in my car so I dont use it. I made it public so folks could add their own tracks but I end up putting all the posts on it. Once again I am happy to do this but I don't want to waste my time.

Any comments and thoughts gladly appreciated.

I love what you do and would be excessively grateful if you were to continue next year. I love the odd paths it presents. For example this morning the First Aid Kit cover of Songbird and the Dave Grohl Hannukah Session set me off chasing videos which finished with Billy Joel's masterful "Whistle Test" performance on iPlayer. You continue to present many a happy surprise.
Hope you've had a great Christmas and have a brilliant New Year.

I’ll put this up for a short while if you fancy a listen:

Album I recorded in Portland with the same producer First Ait kit had on their last but one album. I’ll have to take it off soon as my publisher will
Probably kill me but I’ve been waiting a year to find the right label and it’s doing my head tbh. Definitely putting out in 23 at some point….

Will have a listen to that after lunch. Saw OMITF at The Georgian earlier in the year. Excellent. This is not the 2023 New Music thread yet. Just getting resonses as to whether I should keep it going. Thanks though.

I like to listen & very occasionally post something but I've been insanely busy the second half of the year so not had much chance to do either. I very much appreciate the effort you & Wyke Red put in to keeping the thread going, & the Spotify list too. If it does become a chore & one has to go, the Spotify one is less used by me, I tend to use that on longer car journeys & they have been few & far between this year.

Same here, though I saw him in a few venues around London. Always good.

I was coming to see you at the Launderette in Durham in December before it was cancelled. Hopefully I will get the opportunity next year.

If you are happy to keep it going Asred, I am more that happy to contribute to the thread. As we have discussed I do not have Spotify so I cannot add my posts to it. So I appreciate what you do. I do not generally comment on the football threads as I am no football expert or get to as many games as I would like. But I support the Boro. The new music thread is my contribution to the board. Probably not every thing is to everybody's taste, my mate says my music is 💩. But he has not discovered anything new since Japan. Hopefully people will find something they like.

I F***ing love it.....and you particularly are so on the button (often I go to post something "new" to find you posted it 3 months earlier!). I'll try and post more often in 2023, but sadly I struggle to find new music outside of BBC 6Music as US radio is so bland. I seem to have got into a rut of listening to 80's alternative and new wave stuff (got some great Spotify playlists if anyone is interested lol?) and need to get myself out there again. I also need to start doing my radio podcasts again too.

Right now that Spotify playlist is my go-to for finding new stuff so please keep it going (I know what a pain it is to update it from doing the 30 Days stuff during lockdown).

Thank you for your service!!!

Japan. Great band ;)

Right so it seems some people use both the YouTube list and the Spotify list while others rely on one or the other. I will endeavor to keep both going. I look at new music all the time so not a problem for me and you do get a buzz when you recommend something that someone really likes. I have picked up on lots of artists I had never heard from posts on here and other sites.
Maybe my playlist is too indie orientated as that's what my Spotify Release Radar throws up as that's what I mainly listen to but I try to include lots of artists and genres. Even to the extent of adding artists I don't particularly like but I know others do. I love most types of music with the possible exception of jazz.
I have just spent the morning following a YouTube video in a effort to get rid of the new Spotify layout with is a right load of rubbish.
Expect new playlist around 6th January.

Please keep on keeping on. I don't get out much to see new stuff. Love it. It's a lifeline. I don't have spotify though so don't contribute.

I’m stuck in a 70s and blues/rock rut so your posts are a welcome view through the keyhole of a door that I sometimes open and discover new delights. Please keep on.
