New Covid variant 🤢

Absolutely battering me at the moment. Last time I had Covid it was just a runny nose and a raspy voice but this had floored me with beastly headaches, loss of taste/smell, fever and cramps.
It would seem it is vaccine resistant and I haven’t seen much in the media about it.
Might be worth being a bit more vigilant if you or loved ones are vulnerable.

Battered me a few weeks ago after a gig in Wales. Haven't been offered a jab for ages though.

There's a good few people had it recently on the project I'm on does seem to take people out for a good while, can do without catching it, had it for the second time late last year and it was worse than the first time back in 2020 which was just like a 24 hour flu

The boss and I caught it about 8 weeks ago, we think from a flight home from Gran Canaria and it absolutely floored us both for about 4 or 5 days. Wouldn't wish it on a leeds fan.

Few guys at my work have just had it and were floored for a week. Second time I had it (before Xmas) was much worse than the first, so I’m not looking forward to getting it again, as I inevitably will one day. I think you can get the vaccines privately through some pharmacies now, about £95 a pop?

I picked it up at Glastonbury, but despite the last two times I had it flooring me, this time it much lighter in comparison. I wonder if that's another different variant

My daughter had a chest infection that lasted about 6 weeks recently, wouldn’t surprise me if that was covid related.

Interesting you say that - one of my work colleagues picked it up at Glastonbury and said much the same - he found it much milder this time than his previous exposures. I guess a lot is to do with how long ago you were last exposed, or vaccinated (and so antibody level) and also the priming dose - good chance at Glasto it would be picked up outside in a lower concentration than say at home, with an infected toddler shoving their snotty fingers in your mouth…. That’s my usual priming dose 😂

How do you know its covid, have you tested for it?

Just asking as I'm just in from graft after a sleepless night of sweating and waking up with a cold and banging headache. I didn't think about not going in today, but maybe I should have.

I tested because I felt so ill and was about to book a GP appointment thinking I had a chest infection. The amount of mucus I was/am coughing up was worrying

Yeah I tested.
Wife has just gone down with it today as well. Shivers and aches. Tested and tge old red line is there.

Some related folk in Helensburgh have all had a horrible bout of Covid (tested) but they were not only aching, shivery and had bad headaches but vomiting and unable to eat for 2-3 days.

Sounds bl**dy awful.

Wife and I both been laid low for over three weeks - really nasty.
Just about through now, but really rough.
Both tested negative for Covid, but not sure the kits will pick up new variant?
