I think Warnock did well enough in 5hat season keeping us up, but it was way off what Venables achieved. Beat Chelsea and Liverpool at home, and won at Arsenal. We were nailed on for relegation that season, whereas Warnock took over a squad clearly capable of staying up and we plodded to safetyNot a free pass. But that was an incredible achievement - every bit as good as Terry Venables saving us from the drop from the Premier. In both cases we were going down. And going down fast. Warnock saved us and at the same time took massive earners off the wage list. A brave move but one that gave the club financial stability for the future.
