neil warnock - under investigation from F.A.- asked player for £6,000 a month to play - claim.

Not a free pass. But that was an incredible achievement - every bit as good as Terry Venables saving us from the drop from the Premier. In both cases we were going down. And going down fast. Warnock saved us and at the same time took massive earners off the wage list. A brave move but one that gave the club financial stability for the future.
I think Warnock did well enough in 5hat season keeping us up, but it was way off what Venables achieved. Beat Chelsea and Liverpool at home, and won at Arsenal. We were nailed on for relegation that season, whereas Warnock took over a squad clearly capable of staying up and we plodded to safety

I'm thankful for the job that Warnock did for us but that doesn't deflect from the string of stories and tales I've been told, heard and read about some of his antics regarding money, the same applies with Venables I'm thankful for the job he did at the club but it doesn't stop me from having a critical opinion of his business dealings and some of his financial arrangements.
Both wide boys so it seems.

did not realise it was only 8 points out 8 games (thought it would of been more ) which is hardly an incredible achievement to be honest and don't think the squad was that bad when he took over, think job he did is a wee bit overrated
He did get more than 8 points from the 8 games. He only needed 8 in the end (due to other teams slipping up), but got 12. To put that into perspective, Woodgate only picked up 11 points from the start of the year and had an average of less than a point a game. Whilst the average under Warnock over the last 8 games was 1.5 points per game, almost double what Woodgate picked up in the whole of 2020.

So, yes, it's very likely that, had the form under Woodgate continued (and it didn't look like improving) we'd have gone down. And it really can't be underestimated how quickly he turned things around.
