National Rail Strike

Now they have been hard done to BA staff, totally get it in this case

Yeah, private companies striking = ok and your full support.

Public sector workers = sort of agree, but they aren’t poor enough cos they all get 40k, and you know, cleaners deserve it more, but I guess they work hard enough but they get well paid so maybe I agree but I’m not sure but private sector doesn’t get pay rises but really, everyone striking for RMT gets 40k + and I can’t consider or discuss any of the other issues behind their strike so… but BA asking for more money and withdrawing their labour = good for them. Quite right too. But 40k in RMT and and and…

Okay, now I see where you are.
It’s absolutely clear. A quick look back through your posts throughout this thread confirms.

All said tongue in cheek, of course.

British Airways staff at Heathrow have just voted to strike over the summer holidays too!
Guess the Mail will be blaming these on Labour too 😂
Offered a 10% deal as well! Although media not mentioning the fact that this is the 10% that was took off them during covid. Capitalism eh.

**** me, are you kidding!?
I mean it’s only been in the news every single day for a month now.
Go and have yourself a look at that thing they call the internet.
Ive been away since mid May so not seen any news, no internet either.
Id like to retract the question as I’m not really bothered. 😏

Give over 😂
No internet… apart from the one you posted about your trip on, and used to report your wordle score almost daily. Nice try though.
Anyway, hope you had a good trip. Sounded very much like something I’d like to do one day.

and thats the 'great money trick' - go read the book - 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist' by Robert Tressell - explains it all.

better still get your kids to read it when they become teenagers- so that they know and understand from an early age.
Find an abridged version! Seriously, there are much briefer and engaging introductions to Socialist doctrine.

Hotspotting the barely no internet from my phone, more frustrating than it was worth to try connecting,
trip was fantastic, 👍🏻👍🏻

This is the text out of @FabioPorkpie Twitter post earlier, just in case people don't have Twitter

Three years ago we accepted a 0% pay rise, two years ago we accepted a 0% pay rise.
But this year they came to us with a 0% pay rise plus over 2500 redundancies, changes to terms and conditions.
An increase from 28 weeks of nights to 39 weeks of nights. An increase from 32 weekends worked to 39 weekends worked.
Currently for a night shift we get time and a quarter, for a weekend turn we get time and a half.
They wish to cut both of these to time and a tenth.
So that’s a 15% pay cut on every night shift and a 40% pay cut on every weekend turn.
But they want us to work more of them.
This is their modernisation they talk about.
Not technology, we embrace technology and have seen more and more of it in recent years.
They also wish to fire and re-hire the operative grades and bring them back under a new job title but on £9000 a year less.
They also want them to use their own vehicles to get to work sites, this when fuel is at its highest.
They will also be pooled when currently they are part of the team.
The press are painting this to be about pay above all else. It is not.
But now we’ve said sod them we are going to demand better.
I wish everyone could see past the government controlled media smear

@Warwickboro, if you’ve read the above, do you now understand that it’s about much more than just what percentage pay rise is offered? Does that change your opinion a little, and validate the strike action somewhat?
(There is no mention of pensions in there but I’ve heard RMT officials on tv mention negative changes proposed to them also, although I’ve not seen any details.)
