Maybe not but in the games before his loan he was struggling too. I just don’t think he is gonna quite make it at the boro but there is no shame in that.
 
Great experience today for the young players.
They'll know they have been in a game.
Proper physical encounter.
Those that can learn from this will go far.

Wood is still only young but I think will definitely heading out for another loan after that.
 
Wood And Coburn need to go on loan, and Hartlepool could be the best option , edit - Wood can't go out on loan , so he needs to improve his fitness and pace on today's showing because he looked very slow and off the pace.
Howson Bamba, Crooks, Tav were also off the pace today IMO
Fumbley is not Good enough to be our 1st choice keeper, neither is Daniels ,so one of them needs to move on and a real no1 keeper needs to come in.
Positives
Jones, Hernandez, Uche, Gibson , McNair, Peltier and Munce did well, in difficult conditions, and on this performance I think Uche and Hernandez have made their chances of staying at the club better.

Howson was poor today. Even his corner was crap. He's been much better since Wilder came in but today he reverted back to his form v QPR at home.

Wood can’t go on loan now he’s played today unfortunately.

He’s had Covid and he was played in a position that he’s not very good in these days. I agree he was poor but no point going over board because his league form since Wilder came in has been superb in the deeper role.

Disagree. You're singling Wood out whos raw and no one on this board will have seen enough of to pass real judgement. But defending Howson whom its generally accepted has been steady but underwhelming until the last six weeks? Enjoyed the match today, glad we won. Not interested in discussing the minutiae when its just for tge sake of it

I have seen enough of Wood over the past couple of seasons and he hasn’t developed at all since his initial breakthrough which is a concern, of course he will be struggling for confidence and he hasn’t played much football so he’s gonna be rusty but the truth is he’s no where near it.

I think you are the only person who thinks Howson has been underwhelming for the past 6 weeks. He’s been fantastic since Wilder came in, was poor today though granted. But as he’s just had Covid and played in a position that I personally wouldn’t of played him in I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
 
I would send Wood on loan where he will playing regularly. He's only 19? I always think centre halves take a few years to mature. Fry was ropey for his first 3 years.

You havent seen enough of Wood. He hasnt played enough for you or anyone to say he wont push on. i didnt say Howson has been underwhelming or the last six weeks, I said he's been underwhelming apart from the last six weeks. I.e. He's been pretty good since Wilder came in apart from today.
