I'll check those albums out. I need to listen to some Elvis Costello, he's passed me by apart from the obvious stuff.

Elvis Costello is the best songwriter in this country since Lennon and McCartney stopped writing together. I started to do a best of a few years ago and gave up at 9 CDs. He is superb.
My 3 would probably be
King of America
Blood and Chocolate
Imperial Bedroom
But really impossible to pick 3.

This is impossible, isn't it? My favourite band/ artist changes by the day and sometimes even by the hour. I've been listening to a lot of Ween and The Mountain Goats today but it'll probably be Tom Waits or Nick Drake or Public Enemy tomorrow. It's just whatever you're in the mood for at the time.
