I genuinely say that Gestede is our worst singing ever. If you take in fee and wages over 4 years. I think 5-6 league goals?
It's not even a hindsite thing as 99% of Boro fans thought he was awful before we signed him. I can't fathom buying him in the prem when he'd scored 2 goals for villa (one on the opening day).
He actively sat on his ass getting every Saturday off. He never performed on the rare starts he had. I never heard of him asking for a transfer or publicly moaning about no game time. Just happy to sit on Money he'd not get anywhere else.
I would also say similier but not as bad Kevin Thomson. Bought with a shocking injury record

Gestede didn't work out and would not have been my choice but the signing of Gascoigne and the way he was parachuted into the Cup Final team at the expense of Higgy was the first black mark followed by so many more, Merson, crashing the bus but most of all never delivering anything on the pitch for the money we invested in him.

Valdes quality is not in question to play at the level he did takes some doing ok maybe not at his best here but it was worth a punt.
guzan however is was and forever will be shiiiite.
