Name a realistic Leader

Alex Mowatt is Barnsley captain and LM , played 42 games this season and would cost £1m , not a lot for a 25 year old Yorkshire born captain .
Ben Whiteman is Doncaster captain , age 24 , CM , played 39 games this season £1.2m
Charlie Goode is Northampton CH and captain , and leader age 24 , who could be a great option , albeit un proven at a higher level yet. He played 45 games this season , Promoted to div 1 , he led them to promotion and is very highly rated by Keith Curle .6ft 5in beast with pace .
A captain needs the respect of all the players , which is normally gained by being a leader , proffesional ,reliable , tough , consistent , and on the pitch for most games .
Goode , Whiteman and Mowatt would be my choice as they are young .
Can't have too many leaders .

Hutchinson from Millwall is a good shout. I would take him. Would also take Mowatt I think he’s brilliant.

Ben Whiteman is donny captain not coppinger
The thread is about potential leaders.
I nowhere suggested James Coppinger was Doncaster Rovers Captain.(*)
You dont have to be the Club Captain to be a "leader".

The following are, in my opinion, the main qualities and values underpinniong effective leadership:

• L ead by Example
• E ncourage Thinking
• A pply Reward and Discipline
• D emand High Performance
• E ncourage Confidence in the Team
• R ecognise Individual Strengths
and Weaknesses
• S trive for Team Goals

I've always felt more comfortable with a leader/Captain being a centre half. I think its more to do with the fact that they can see what is happening in front of them, always think of forwards etc as having their backs to the game for some reason.

I would look at teams in the prem, either relegated teams or players on frees? Might be a few of them, who would maybe fancy the challenge as a last hurrah.

Absolutely. I always think when centre forwards are captains it's usually because they're the best player and are more leading by example than being a manager/organiser/motivator on the pitch.

Probably depends on how important the manager sees the armband as being. You can be a leader without being the captain. Its leaders throughout the team that we need. Although obviously a Leadbitter/Ince/Pearson type wouldn't go amiss.

Spot on Festa(y)

Lets also not forget that leaders emerge in different circumstances.
Individuals react to challenges in unique ways.

In the heat of battle, those perceived least likely to lead take the bull by the horns and take the initiative.
Leadership comes out of adversity and pressure.

We got behind Millwall with a bit of pace so maybe Hutchinson and Wallace ( dirty bar steward for breaking Jeds nose ) are not the answer .
Jake Cooper has got pace , so I would still like him .
Cooper and Goode with Mowatt and Whiteman in front of them could be an option .

Gibson loan from Burnley gotta be nailed on hasnt it?

Certianly possible but I would imagine Burnley will want to get him sold and off their books completely, which may rule us out. Gibson would probably prefer to come here though I would imagine but it may not work out like that

Another vote for Sean Morrison at Cardiff.

Whenever he's interviewed after the match, I always get the impression he's a massive presence in their dressing room.

Also love how he took the **** put of Richard Keogh some time ago. Warnock loves him aswell. If they don’t go up maybe he will fancy a new challenge, who knows. He would be a great signing tbf.

Must be some players we could pick off the Wigan corpse if we stay up.
They'll be having a fire sale to cope with administration.

Doubt they would get anything like what they paid for him best option is to ship him out on loan, get the loaning club to pay bulk of wages , then hope his value increases. Its either that or sell him at a big loss now - but maybe a Leeds or West Brom will pick him up?

True but I’m sure he only signed a 4 year contract (could be wrong) and if he did he’s wasted 2 years already and then a third out on loan, he has only got a year left after that so his value will be reduced. I reckon they would get more from him this summer. Either way they are gonna have to take a significant hit just get him off their books

Neil Warnock said we do have leaders in Friend and Howson for instance - but not shouters and he is pointing at the keeper as much as anyone. Friend conducted a prematch huddle on Wednesday and then really tried to rally everyone after water breaks etc. All good to see, I think.

Disgusting how a lad of his proven talent and ability has been hung out on the football washing line for two seasons - such a waste.
However, Dysche is such a wonderful manager - gibson told him a few home truths and gobby clearly didnt like it.
I feel for Ben.
Hope it gets sorted before next season starts [not long lyke](y)
