My cancer/ Sven's cancer

I was diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago and this morning I've read about Sven's diagnosis. Neither of us had any symptoms to enable us to catch it early. In my case, I went to A&E with suspected appendicitis and they found a cricket ball sized tumour which has apparently been growing for five years without any indication it was there. Sven went for a run and felt iffy afterwards and was diagnosed.
I would love to have had the chance to go to the doctor earlier.
Sven has a year max, I'm more fortunate (providing my chemo works) and probably have a fair few years left.

I recently had a bout of stomach pain and constipation and blood for a month and showed no signs of stopping. We have a family history of bowel cancer in the family so went to docs who sent me for a colonoscopy and they found 2 very large polyp‘s which they said had to be removed otherwise they could turn cancerous. Glad they were caught early and it’s put my mind at rest. I’ll have a follow up scan every few years in case more polyp’s return.

All the best with your treatment.

Excellent advice and something that always worries me. I've suffered with IBS for years and odd abdominal pains have been part and parcel of my life for almost as long as I can remember now and I always worry if I'm going to miss 'the bad one'.

Best of luck Schlumberger. You've probably read my story....had a pain in my armpit for 3 days...checked on second day...found lump....friends docs etc....it'll only be a cyst etc....right side of 50, no history etc and then boom last sat breast cancer diagnosis. I'm now waiting for biopsy results but looks like it's caught early....2cm lump and 2 suspicious lymph nodes. I have had loads of stomach issues on and off for a couple of years now. I was panicking they were now related but luckily I had a whole host of tests and samples sent off in the 2 weeks before my diagnosis, with the last being Monday....I've got gallstones and mild ibs....everything else samples, scans, bloods etc have come back clear thank god
