Muniz finally getting game time at Fulham

With Raul Jimenez being injured Muniz has started the last 5 games. So far he has scored 4 goals. Really pleased for him as I was desperate for us to sign him(the season before we loaned him) when he went to Fulham. Never got game time here but I sure if he had he would have scored goals. But Que Sera Sera and all that.

Here is a cracking finish against Burnley

His goal against Villa was a proper strikers goal and he put Willian through late in the game but he missed a good chance. Manager said he has been playing well.

I’ve been watched him in a few games and he’s looked a cut above what he did for us. I even checked to see if it was the same player.

He was a big part of what went wrong for us at the beginning of last season. He played pretty much every match from when he signed until Carrick took over including Carrick's first match in charge. He never started another game after that but was used sporadically off the bench until we signed Archer. He just looked like his confidence was totally shot but he was giving us nothing after those first 3 or 4 matches.

He only scored 2 goals in 892 minutes of football for us. Carrick obviously didn't see anything in him because he was using Crooks up front instead of Muniz once he had moved Forss out to the right, until he brought Archer in

Good to see he's managing to turn things round now though and he is still a young lad.

Yeah he never even got on the bench until Ramsey got injured
It never really worked for him here, but that's football - he's having a good run at the moment

We turned down the opportunity to sign Muniz.. the January we brought in Bolasie, Kebano & Mendez Laing in on loan.

Toyosi Olusanya was out alternative I believe.

We also turned down the opportunity to sign Jamie Paterson on a free (injury concerns) preferring Sammy Ameobi

We missed out on Keiffer Moore and opted for Uche Ikpeazu.. and preferred Martin Payero to Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu

funny how things work out..

The strange thing about Carrick not playing him was I thought he would be a good fit for the style of football we played.

Carrick more or less same immediately ditched him - and we did alright without him
He did seem to make up his mind pretty quickly, he only played that pening game at Preston and after that didnt get a look in.

Which I always found a little odd, because he looked a decent player; physical, mobile and looked like he could play.

At the time I put it down to the fact he didn't want a typical target man, but then we've seen Josh in the team, who is a similar style of player, so that can't be it.

With hindsight it was maybe a mistake, a bit like Karanka with Steele I think.

Was it a mistake? Apkom scored 29 and Archer got 10 or so post January.
I thought he looked ok first couple of games then pretty poor after that.
I don't think Coburn was ever part of the plan really, it's just due to us not bringing anyone in that he's featured heavily. If we'd signed another striker I think he's have been heading to Plymouth on loan as planned.

Good for Muniz him he's doing well though.

I don't think we'll ever know, but realistically he wouldn't have scored like Archer did, who came in as his replacement.

I do think Karanka made a mistake in getting rid of Steele though.

I don’t think Steele would have kicked on with us. He is undoubtedly a much better player now for his experiences elsewhere (good and bad).

Dimi was a steadier pair of hands at the time and an important part of the promotion charge.

Aye, maybe not.

I think Dimi was a steady keeper, with some obvious flaws, but also fortunate enough to play in a very defensive minded team.

Don't forget we could only name 5 loans in matchday squad which was keeping Muniz out the squad.

Steffan
Archer
Mowatt
Giles
Ramsey (when fit)
