MSF Meeting Kieran Scott Q and A

Médecins Sans Frontières? Good to see Kieran Scott getting involved in a worthy cause.

Here is the match report from Middlesbroigh Supporters Forum Q and A with Kieran Scott.
Some very interesting snippets there.

Strongest hint yet that Wilder was talking to Burnley. Definitely an issue of some sort as was suspected but not really confirmed. Also confirmation Wilder wasn't actually "all in" on the way the club want to operate.

Chuba has another year, think it was reported there was an option previously? Sounds like if that's the case we can and will (if we haven't already) activate it.

Southgate recommending Carrick was interesting too. Clearly still talks to Gibson despite how it ended.

Good to hear more on Danks' role too.

All sounds really positive (as you'd expect).

Wow actually communication from the club brilliant to see.

Q: What are the plans with Payero?
KS:

Martin was brought in before my time here.

He has gone out on loan, and they do have an option to buy him which they may take up.

Their season works differently to ours, so their option to buy comes in May or June.

That’s clear and clears up the ambiguity

More clarity in the future please mfc

You are spot on. Some elements of the meeting need to remain private but you get the vibe about being all in. Michael is all in though.

I came away very impressed by him, I’m convinced we are in good hands with Kieran and what he wants to do.

Good stuff in there. Proof will be in the pudding when it comes to recruitment, but he acknowledges it hasn’t been working for a while. Give him the benefit of the doubt for his first year under warnock and wilder.
Glad he wants to improve the competitiveness of the academy and push the players more.

The comment on foreign recruitment was interesting too. No real secret Warnock and Wilder weren't comfortable recruiting from overseas, but never made sense to me.

Yes, obviously there are challenges with bringing in players from other leagues, but why wouldn't you cast your net as wide as possible?

Think the problem with most managers we've had since Southgate was that to a greater or lesser degrees it's been as much about them as it has been the club or the players.

No surprise Southgate likes Carrick, I think they're very much in the same mold. There's a humility to them. It's not about them proving how brilliant they are as a manager or coach. Their focus seems to be very much on getting the best out of the players at their disposal.

Wonder if that comes from having had very good playing careers, so they feel they have less to prove? Or more to pass on? Either way it's a vibe I like. The focus should be on the players, they're the ones who have to go out on the pitch and deliver at the end of the day.

Would've liked to have known more about the possibility of an assistant manager coming in and if so how far away we are from that. Some great responses though. Would like to see more of this in a more open forum in future.

Carrick himself said that they were pretty much done with coaching appointments now.

I think Woodgate is effectively his assistant, given the comments about Dank's specialised role.
