Abusers, 'abuse' - regardless of the situation - football is just another conduit.
plenty of weasel words during the backtracking and distancing themselves from abuse.
i cant wait to see who is the first to start mentioning 'passion' 'love of the boro' 'woke snowflakes' 'thin skinned' and incredibly "i buy a ticket (doh !) i can say what i want"
*Rob has had snidey, sneaky and unwarranted comments aimed his way this past week - some need to take a long hard look in a mirror and take the opportunity to change - an apology would be appropriate - i wont hold too much hope of it, though.
a little less ego and a bit more soul.

No i didn't mean to at all. What I meant was is Mark is the face of these sort off communications so people shoot the messenger as it were. The Boro should own this, not MSF. But they haven't. And it's really not good enough. As Dana said, a really bad week for lots of people.
Any abuse Mark or others have got us awful. I did mention on the 'meeting' thread about my experience of a Boro fan recently - getting abused at the ground and having chest pains. I told the club and aksed to move my seat. They moved my seat but never heard from them about my report on the fella. Again, no ownership, just brush things under the carpet. I reported it to them rather than going mad online. But perhaps that is all they respond to.

It's a sad state of affairs when someone who is communicating the current situation on a regular basis is getting flak for something in which there aim is trying to appease the masses.
Makes you wonder why decision making individuals stay quiet, situations like this unfortunately justify them.

i think there are two truths personally, rob. yes absolutely, the doyles pelting abuse at people are the centrepiece of this, and trust me i’ve really had to bite my tongue this week reading some of the stuff posted, particularly on twitter.
the other truth is that the club have created a notably bad feeling within the fanbase because of the ticket increase fiasco - that was the prelude and this is the fall out of it. that’s just how i’ve observed things this week.
i completely take the points made though, this reflects so badly on our fanbase. i just don’t understand why people can be like that, and so boldly too. i feel so bad for mark - a good person trying to do good things being the subject of people’s anger. it’s not on.
i can’t wait to return to a place where the football is our only potential annoyance and not anything else (although, three points tomorrow i reckon)
I didn’t think that was a bad thread. There was no abuse on there and it was a fairly decent debate with some fair points.
I don’t think it helps create a bond when you have a dig at RF and then lock the thread. That assists in creating division.
The abuse at Mark is bang out of order as well. I know people don’t agree with how MSF operate but he doesn’t set prices.
As pointed out above, the club let MSF and Rob take flack for their failures. MSF and FMTTM are in a similar position to Maddo in that they can only ask what is acceptable by the club and can’t criticize otherwise you get the big heave ho.
This week has gone from a massive high, the positive fans meeting arranged by RF and a win at Leicester to a real low, a lot of needless sniping/blaming who is right or wrong.
For fans to have any chance they need to be together and pull in the same direction.

It’s sad that in this day and age peoples first port of call is to dish out abuse.
Mark and Rob in this instance have done nothing but try to improve things for us fans, I for one appreciate everything that Rob and Mark do and have done for us.
No.
But I will say that there was some mis-placed triumphalism on here.
I ain't going to say any more as, I suspect, actions might speak louder than words.

The club does need to work on its comms, access to the fans, without worrying about press manipulation is pretty easy these days through social media. The social media aspect has improved greatly, but needs alignment with other departments in the club to get the right message across, in the right way, at the right time.

If unity is what you're after, you don't seek to divide a meeting in a room and you don't walk out of it and then later proclaim some sort of "victory". And you don't get involved with belittling the efforts of other fans representatives. Not singling you out personally, just my observation from a distance.

Boro have made mistakes on comms no doubt about it, but Mark doesn't work for them and they didn't throw him under a bus. Yes this whole situation could have been avoided by better Boro comms from the off, but they have communicated after the meeting.
If I've read it correctly, there were agreements from all to hold off and let MFC communicate the outcome, but then it seems RF jumped the gun and made announcements despite agreeing not to, while bigging up their 'victory'. This is confrontational behaviour and makes an us-and-them situation and stokes the flames of a situation. It's the behaviour of those wanting power rather than solutions. There appears to be a campaign to paint both Mark and Rob as being nothing more than mouthpieces and yes men to the club and that is utterly unwarranted and has led to both of them getting abuse, that seems to be coming from RF and their supporters (that's certainly how I'm reading things). It's got to stop, it's toxic and no good will come of it. Gibson has a long memory and if he feels RF are getting too obstructive, being too toxic, there will come a time when they are whittled out.

Only found out today that this chap was the chair of MSF.. not 100% what MSF do either tbh
Awful that he has faced a pile on caused by the season ticket renewals.. the clubs actions and responses have been very poor indeed.
Cold, ignorant and rude. We should have been going into next season on a Bryan Robson style high.. there are genuinely good things happening
Unfortunately on the back of a £16m sale… half way into the season of one of our most promising and exciting talents.. combined with the complexly out of the blue sale of cult hero and genuine game changer Matt Crooks.. did not leave the door open for a super early short deadline aggressive grunt for cash.. bang out of order.
We all want the club to do well, we want to see good things happen at the club.. at a time when the retail arm of the club (despite record sales and profits) is just totally naff.. lifting our leg yet again, turning the kids upside down and shaking their pocket money out and rifling through our nanas purse is not a good look.
If this chap was supposed to be the face of the fan to club communications then it is little wonder that he got pied off the back of this.
Red Faction have done tremendously well addressing the issue head on and with the weight which was required for change.. just as the Mark fellow should not have bore the brunt of criticism on this issue.. nor should Red Faction be criticised for their much needed action.

The personal abuse towards Mark and Rob is completely unwarranted and wholly unnecessary.
One issue here is that so many of us aren’t privy to these meetings. There is a real lack of clarity and detail about what happened, who said what, etc. The club hasn’t really released anything other than a token statement. When there is such a lack of detail and information made available to the supporters as a whole - some of these meetings and groups do feel like something of a closed-shop to be honest - then you’ll always be open to people filling in the spaces.
The club can rectify this by being more open, more often, and engaging properly. I suspect they won’t though. I agree with what @danamfc was saying tbh. In part, the club has caused this fall-out. Not that that makes the personal abuse any less horrible, obviously. But to pretend or imply the club hasn’t played a part in what happened throughout this week is a bit daft.

Sunderland (the club) publish their supporter minutes on the website. We should do this and Boro should provide someone to write up the minutes. It shouldn't be up to Rob or whoever.
