Mr Preston is standing again!

If he wins again ,,,then what ? , does that make people stupid ? or maybe he strikes a chord & people are ok with him outside of political leanings .

Interesting times ahead ?
Outside of political leanings. That's all Preston and fat Ben are about politics.

Who’s this?
The labour fella, isn't he a Councillor? So he got elected , therefore electable
Always found the phrase "unelectable " strange.
Anyone who wins enough votes us electable
They used yo say corbyn was unelectable, yet he was elected numerous times as a MP and also elected leader, ironicly when people said he was unelectable and they was no point him standing for leadership

Remember this after Dave Budd's team worked round the clock to get the big weekend?

To be fair, he isn't claiming that event as his own, just that it was a success and that he would like to repeat it on a smaller scale.

To be clear Chris Cooke is everything that Andy Preston isn’t.

He’s honest
He cares about the people of our town
He lives in the town

He’s happy to set agendas and let the experts do their jobs.
He wants much more openness in the council, it’s currently like a secret society.

A little about him..

He has a degree in IT, and worked n schools for a number of years, he then moved to the third sector where he helps run a charity in Middlesbrough. I’m sure Chris will have lots to say in the next few weeks.

Chris needs to say a lot more if he wants to beat Preston.

I'm no Tory but the likes of Preston and Houchen play the social media game a lot better than the local Labour mps and councillors. I think its style over substance most of the time with Preston and Houchen but that wins votes.

Chris might have the substance but he's got to sell that to the local voters.

If folks who are going to be voting day they don’t like Andy Preston but they fonk rate the other guys either.. that makes them unelectable. Nothing to do with him being elected as a councillor or Jeremy Corbyn.

Anyone standing is electable, it's just a case of convincing enough people your the best person for the job

Not a clue. Think he was involved in commercial property wasn’t he??

Obviously been very profitable for him, anyway.

Good to have a successful businessman like that running the town. Someone who understands how the wheels of industry turn and what it takes to get projects off the ground
As long as it’s not to the detriment of the town.. and his position isn’t just being used to boost his property portfolio.

Chris worked in IT in schools.

I do find it odd that some are asking what Chris's background is, yet not once asked what Preston's background was.

We were told he was a Hedge fund manager, the only thing that we know is this.

I know Chris very well and exactly what his background is. He hasn't had an easy start in life and deserves any success he does get. If he decides he is going to do something he will certainly get it done and can be a bloody thorn in your side whilst he is trying to get it done. He does tend to hold a grudge though.

I still don't think he is the right man for this job and feel that Labour has made the wrong choice here.

Nice lad , but unfortunately failed to solve a problem in the local area ......3 came ,had a look , never seen again, that handed votes in our area to Preston who actually went door to door one night & pushed certain parts of council to act ...6 months after the 3 first showed up.

Yeah, if I wanted to pick a proffesiom that reflected the hard working, altruistic, selfless people of Middlesbrough I'd have chosen a hedge fund manager
So a scaffolder/chemical engineer/dock worker/car salesman/brickie (delete as appropriate) would be a better choice then?
