Moving back to Middlesbrough.

Lived in Ingleby for 5 years and had no problems at all. Minor anti social behaviour like you get anywhere. Property prices are strong, bike routes on your doorstep, shops and restaurants are decent.

As someone said above it's just the cool thing to slag off right now, driven by the gazette desperate for clicks for the most part

That said 190k here will get you a flat, terrace or at best a semi, so depends what you are after as money will go further elsewhere. Our house has gone up in value about £100k in the time we moved here.

The Acklam area is still nice although the Trimdon area seems to be getting a bad reputation near shops with kids. Nicely built old houses, although you need one with a decent drive. Loads of new builds near Acklam Hall and along Low Lane. Nice walks around the area. Handy for buses into town and plenty of drinking areas without needing a car (Blue Bell, Master Cooper, Coronation, Jack Hatfields, St Francis, Rugby Club, Endeavour).

If you have £190k you don't need to be looking at Whinney Banks or Thorntree in the Teesside area. You could get something in Linthorpe or Acklam for that. If you prefer newer stock then Ingleby Barwick is fine. The only thing that puts me off IB is that it is a little flat and featureless. I would prefer Coulby Newham which has a decent shopping centre and more trees, and if you like running or walking in the woods there is Fairy Dell to serve your purposes.

Budget up £190k. I know you’ll always get some undesirables no matter where you go.
With that budget have you considered the Marton/Nunthorpe TS7 area? There are Semi-detached properties for sale in Nunthorpe for under 190k, also plenty in Marton around the Cypress Road area. Lived there for 5 years not one bit of bother, great neighbours, lovely walks to Stewart Park etc.

You can be walking down the Tees in no time from IB. It isn't my type of place, nor is Coleby, but choosing between the two I'd go for IB. Every time I drive through there's a lot of people out walking, not a bad sign.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Ingleby Barwick. At all. Some decent pubs and restaurants, good schools, loads of trees and walking routes, some lovely houses, easy access to the A19 and countryside on your doorstep, couple of miles from Boro and Yarm. Have no idea why it would ever get slated.

People say this all the time and it's usually when they've spent zero time here. Almost word for word what my girlfriend said when she wanted us to live in Redcar and now she kicks herself over dragging her feet.

I grew up in hemlington and coulby and wouldn't trade it for Ingleby at all. There's a walk along the leven behind our house with horses, donkeys, highland cows, alpacas etc, I can be on great bike ride routes within 5 minutes, cycle paths all around the estate and into Stockton, it's got bars, restaurants, supermarkets, farm shops on the doorstep, the community is really good. Yarm, Thornaby, Stockton all right nearby. Every part of Ingleby has walking routes around it without the need for going to fairy dell.

There's loads of things I see people say about Ingleby all the time about being soulless, houses all look the same, houses too close together etc and none of it is true. I spent lockdown running round every street in Ingleby and it's got a massive variety of houses from terraces to unreal massive houses and most streets are completely different.

Everyone in our street has been really great and loads of fundraising going ok for defib machines, community markets every month at local pub and any issues get sorted quickly.

The below is 2 minutes walk from my house but every section of Ingleby has access to forest or river walks around it and all linked by cycle paths and walking / running routes.
