Most missed member of the board?

No poolside view anymore, I now live in Hartlepool ... and I'm bloody freezing !
Not sure I could cope with the cold weather over there in the Boro area. It was bad enough when I lived in London.

Not a swimmer so I have not been in the pool for our urbanisation since I moved out here.

I remember asking you advice about Spain. And I remember the conversation about the Nerja area .. Wish I was still there, we loved the life out there, and looking to go back for a few months..

Let me know if you do come out here. Perhaps we could meet up for a drink sometime at a bar near you. I would be happy to drive down to you. It is not that far away and it is all motorway or dual carriageway.

Thanks, I can do that. We're looking at a few months in the Valencia region, seems to be a whole lot cheaper there than Nerja ..

OK. From there it is quite a way to me.

I think you would be fine there as long as you do not go there in the winter time. It is wetter that some other parts of Spain.

Where are you located ?
I am at the western end of the province of Almería. About 2 hours drive from Malaga airport. Also, about 35-40 minutes drive from Almería airport.

As you can see from the graphs in the earlier post. Valencia is wetter than Malaga. Also Almería and Murcia are drier than Malaga.

I am guessing you might want somewhere not too far from the coast with the nicest weather in the winter. If that is true then best to be south of Alicante on the east coast. Or east of Málaga on the south coast (the further east of Málaga the drier it is). Here is the Elche rainfall info as an example (not far south of Alicante).

Thanks, it's good to be back. Been over 5 years since I posted, and I see there's still a lot of recognisable names on here, which is really good to see. My family and myself have been thru some crap over those 5 years. We moved from Florida in 2015, to Nerja in Spain. Lovely place, lived down by the beach, which was noisy with daft Brits singing "Here we go" at stupid O'clock, so we moved up into the mountains by Frigiliana. I fell ill, and was diagnosed with pancreatitis, very painful and 3 weeks in Malaga hospital. Then a month later, back in boring hospital again for 3 weeks. I drove back to the UK for my son's wedding in October, and a couple of days after that, I was rushed to James Cook Hospital with very high blood sugar and terrible pain. I was then taken to Freemans Hospital, and spent 4 weeks in intensive care, and 5 more weeks trying to get better. The doc there found the real problem was cancer of the parathyroid gland had caused my calcium level to be 12 times to high. That calcium level had basically destroyed my pancreas and sent me into type 2 diabetes .. I lost 6 stone, and looked like a bloody skeleton, and I came very close to pushing up the daisies. Fought like hell to beat it, and with the help of the NHS doctors and nurses, I managed not to shuffle off this mortal coil .. Had a rented house in Spain with all our stuff in it, and we left all that to buy a house in "Hartlepool" .... ! Still have to have tests and take a lot of meds, but I'm still alive and kicking. I heartily and sincerely thank the magnificent NHS for all they did for me, that institution should be fully funded and never taken for granted.

It's good to be here to post this, apologies if it was a bit lengthy, but it feels good to get it off my chest.

Sorry to read about your recent health struggles Ned.

Glad you’re on the mend and back on the forum.

I have lurked around since roughly 2001/2002. Nice to see some of the old names.
I'm sure there are loads more, some I remember are Robbso, Teesside Cleveland (sure i saw him post not long ago) Lingdale Legend, Skunkie, Alanelli chubster, the immortal Wheelz Aka Paddy.
