Embarrassed and upset to be writing this morning, especially with a new born baby and moving house next weekend. But I have been made redundant from work ( construction company , I was a buyer and helped with estimating etc) so if there is any jobs going anywhere please let me know. Open to most things as I need to be in work ASAP really. Boss couldn’t of timed this any worse. Heartbroken.

Sorry to hear that Block, nothing you should be embarrassed about at all, its come at the worst possible time for you & the family

Have you thought about another direction for job opportunities, ie Chemical, process etc, going back to collage

Doesn't furlough run until September? Couldn't your boss keep you on furlough until you found something else?

I haven’t been on furlough though. Is that right though that he could of done that?

You can start furlough now though, I think, it doesn't matter that you were not on it before, as far as I'm aware.

I would look into that though?
 
Redundancy is nothing to be embarrassed about, it happens to everybody. When one door closes another one always opens, you will be ok 👍
 
Certainly pursue that furlough potential with your Employer Block.

If he has any compassion whatsoever taking your recent personal events into account he should bend over backwards to help you out.

This will give you a bit of breathing space to look properly for a new position without necessarily feeling that you need to rush into something you're not suited to.

Absolutely no need to feel embarrassed.

This sort of thing happening to a valued board member brings the best out of folk on here so you've done the right thing.

If he has written that he will take you back then he may be willing to furlough you. It may be that he is not aware that it's possible so perhaps you could give him the info. and ask him to consider it.

The good news is, you will have lots of transferable skills and experiences that should enable you to get another job and hopefully as we start to come out of lockdown and the economy picks up there will be opportunities for you.

Thanks for that pal. I have sent him an email asking if Furlough is a possibility. I hope it is.

Sorry to hear your news bud, that’s terrible. I’m afraid I can’t offer any practical help but I’ve got my fingers firmly crossed the furlough / re-take on comes about and if not, that you get something sorted soonest. Good luck. Keep us posted.
