Middlesbrough's final 23-man squad registered with the EFL

I wonder how much we've paid Fisher and Ameobi in wages? In terms of minutes on the pitch.

Whilst I know injuries are part of the game. Its a shocking use of club finances (I'd also add Payero to that).
No it's not 'shocking use' it's injuries and they happen at every club.

Do you think we're not receiving payment for Payero, yet when we loan players we pay for them?

What do you suggest we do, just stop paying them ?

Some of it may well be covered by insurance anyways.

What is the reasoning behind naming the 23 man squad?

Are we limited to using those 23 and only those in EFL Championship games?

If so, Hoppe can't feature for the first team?

Does that mean we can't now fill the last 2 spaces until January?
Eg if we sign Stephens and one other non-contract player can they play for us this year?

You don't need to be named in the 25 man squad if you're U21, you can still play.

Hoppe is still able to be classed as an U21 player, so it leaves a squad place open for further signings without limiting his ability to play for us.

Hoppe turned 21 in March.

Surely Boro haven't signed him and then excluded him from use with the first team. Especially with them publicly stating that they needed another striker at the end of the window.

The definition of U21 includes people who were 20 at the start of the calendar year, such as Hoppe.

Hence Hoppe being included in the U21s squad list.
