Middlesbrough to London train starts today

The return time is what ruins the idea to me. It feels too early. I'd have to get a later train to Darlington or stay overnight which obviously then means you'd lose out on the benefit of the cheaper return ticket. Probably would just stick to getting on from Darlington if I had a need.

I don't understand how you can get to London quicker by getting the TPX to Northallerton then changing.

The prices are okay at the moment, but that won't last.
The timings for the direct service look quite slow. There's a seven minute dwell time at York, presumably to ensure the changeover from diesel to electric, and 2hr 7min for the non-stop journey to Kings Cross is slow - some trains do it in well under 2 hours - so I'm guessing there are pathing issues. I don't see that the introduction of a single weekdays-only peak service is anything for the Tories to be crowing about to be honest.

Great for me when I have family coming to visit as they usually travel weekdays and usually have to mess about getting to and from Darlo every time.
