Huddersfield makes Middlesbrough look posh .I do travel elsewhere. ATM I'm in Huddersfield and been all over the country and Scotland just in last 12 months. The lack of shops in Boro is there for all to see. Just go and have a look.

Was there a racist element to the attack on your friend Boroboyyo? I haven’t really noticed a racist element in Boro recently, but I’m not there regularly on a weekend evening. My mate got attacked in the town centre on a night out only a week ago
I know it isn’t comfortable to talk about , but I think there is a decent bit of racial tension in the town centre too
Fartown, birkby fanny moor and the centre. The people never come across anything like it.Huddersfield makes Middlesbrough look posh .

You haven't lived there then? I have for 10 years trust me never again makes me appreciate Boro more.Well strangely enough I am in town now and it looks ok. Only been here two hours though and not dark yet.
Yeah some bits of Newcastle are a bit ropey Scrug...where were you gigging?

As a non-local, that's what stands out to me. After 5, it's like in a western when the town shuts down because the outlaws are coming.I notice stores like M&S shut their Linthorpe Road doors well before 5.30pm which they never used to. There seems to be far fewer people about after 5pm.
That's one of the reasons why town centres are so bad. I do it myself but given a decent option much prefer to shop in town.I've never moved away and can see how the areas deteriorated. I avoid going into the town centre and mainly shop at Teesside Park or online.

Not if there is no shops to come into town for. If there were decent shops people would come in go for lunch and it would be a nice atmosphere. Can see it being pubs that open one or two nights a week like Flares and are open until the early hours. It’s a strange layout as well in that most of the bars are concentrated at either end of the pedestrianised bit of Linthorpe Road.
Last night we walked through there from Baker Street to down near the train station, and we didn’t see another soul. Very much like a ghost town. Hopefully when they open Captain Cook Square with all the leisure / restaurant stuff that will help
York doesn't feel the same. Why is that?Same anywhere you go in UK.
Egalitarian "levelling up"![]()
York isn't the same. Its miles ahead. Tgere are tourists en mass from far and wide visit York city centre. You don't get that with Middlesbrough and theres a reason for that.York doesn't feel the same. Why is that?
