Mick Lynch

I actually think that's a decent discussion. Challenged fairly by O'brian, he explained his position calmly.

Not that I agree with his stance mind you, but he set out his thinking in a measured manner

I agree. At least he tried to explain his reasons and whilst I disagree with him, I could at least understand what he was saying and where he was coming from. One of the more coherent explanations for voting leave that I’ve heard. Let’s face it, there haven’t been many!

James O’Brien is right wing and an absolute clown. He used to have melt downs over Corbyn with the other right wing people like Clarkson etc

The change will come in this country when we vote in the right parties and O’Brien doing everything he could to tarnish Labour under Corbyn has left us (in part) with this government

Mick Lynch said be voted Labour at the last election 🤷🏻‍♂️
Come off it, JOB is far from Tory, might not be your fav shade of red but he’s not right wing on the slightest.

It’s long been suggested the strikes were a fight the Government wanted, and they have deliberately prolonged and stoked them in an attempt to raise public anger at the disruption so they can get support for implementing anti-strike laws. However, I’d say this is backfiring as on the whole, the public seem to be generally supportive of striking workers, especially now the NHS is involved.
Tory b***ds playing with fire and hopefully they are about to get very badly burned.

Keen to see the apetite the Tory Boris Voting majority in the UK have if we end up with a general strike.
Especially if the lights go out, the banking system shuts down, bread doesn't get baked etc etc etc.

And be interesting the see how the markets react....... would they see it as bad for the UK economy as that disaster Truss and abandon sterling like before? I suspect so.

Tories playing with fire......... I plead they get burnt to a cinder.

It is illegal for the TUC to call for a general strike, they could organise co-ordinated strikes but that would mean individual unions balloting their members and getting enough members to say yes.

Gruniad

I wonder what will happen if the unions manage to align and bring about a general strike, that ultimately will bring down the Tory government. Labour have already said that there is no magic money tree so the problems will still exist. What a $hit $torm to inherit!

Isn't this just the next part of their strategy to smear Labour with the strikes?

I might be wrong but if this goes before the House it forces a position from Labour, neither of which are particularly pretty (even abstention wouldn't be a good look). The Conservatives also look (from the outside at least) that they are doing something.

Quite a canny strategy from the Conservatives if that's what is intended.

Labour have already come out and stated they will repeal the proposed changes. Both Starmer and Rayner.

An insult

I can't speak for all the public sector but it feels to me like the government, Network Rail and the Rail delivery group are intent on attacking the conditions of railworkers. Its not even about payrises.

It feels like a deliberate attempt to reduce terms and conditions and drive down conditions for workers. If they get away with it then they'll move onto other industries

The government looks in a weak position as does Sunak

You would think it will get settled as the Tories are absolutely finished if this carries on

The government seem to be more than happy to let these strikes continue, there's absolutely no urgency to solve things.

I think Sunak etc think the rail workers are their miners. In their blinkered upper class vortex crushing these strikes will give them Tory Thateristic rebirth.
They don't want peace. They want carnage.
Hope the Lynch and his people have the stomach for it
