For those of us who are of a certain age...
1872? Hahahaha! I knew I was old and I remember him really well, but I didn’t realise I was that old.Loved Mick Kennedy, loved his aggression, his style, he was a great addition to the mighty Boro when Bobby Murdoch signed him from Huddersfield Town for £100k in August 1872
4 days after signing him he made his Boro debut away to Sheff Weds, wearing the No10 shirt he was registered No543, he went on to make 79 appearences, scoring 5 goals, his last goals, a brace in a 3-2 home defeat to Derby Couunty were scored on his 22nd birthday, the same day Kevin Beattie made his 5th & final Boro appearence
3 excellent players for us there @TeessideCleveland
Each to their own CardiffIf I was to make a list of all the excellent players who had pulled on a shirt for us over the past 45 years Mick Kennedy would not be on it. Sorry Erimus but he wasn’t that good.
Never hward the reason for Micks passingForgive the morbid question (he was a bit before my time). He died young, did the drink get the better him?
(I mean no offence in the question)

Yes in the playoff fixtureDidn't Mick go to play at Pompey who around 1987 had the hardest team in Britain.
Excellent story, enjoyed thatI’ve a MK story I’ve mentioned on here before so please bear with me if you remember it.
Just left school in Summer 83 and Boro were skint. Club appealed to fans to volunteer to paint the seats and barriers at AP so at a loose end before starting my apprenticeship in September me and a few friends did so. Preseason, the players and managers (Malcolm Allison) were coming and going. We hit on the idea of a match, painters v first team and pitched it to MA who agreed,
A couple of weeks later we lined up, jumpers for goalposts, on a pitch on Hall Drive.
About an hour in we were getting tonked about 10-0 when Kelham O’Hanlon went to throw the ball to Gary Hamilton which I spotted and block tackled him as he received the ball which rebounded to my mate who half volleyed it in. Scenes. As I returned to half way line, I passed MK who punched me in the guts full force. Big Mal seen this and bo***xed him. I was playing right wing and he put MK at LFB and encouraged me to take him on every time I got the ball. We got beat 21-1 but that shows MK “winning attitude” to a tee
