And a 50 percent pay ****, fair play for doing that he could have gone elsewhere for all the money.

I think he will get a % of ticket sales according to a few journalists, also suggesting that it won’t be playing for the full 5 years. Great news either way though

Yep, I'm yet to see him at the Nou Camp so fingers crossed that bucket list item might be ticket off soon.

Saw him at Old Trafford for Argentina against Portugal a few years back in a friendly - spent the entire first half on the right touchline trying not to get injured and got hooked at HT :)

I saw him a good few years back when we took my Dad for a long weekend in Barcelona for his 60th. He scored, but it was only a 1-0 win against Atletico Bilbao, Llorente was up front for them and he was a proper handful all game.

Would love to go back one day, but to be honest my big wish would be to get to see a Borussia Dortmund home game, done Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin, which were great, love the Bundesliga.

Anyway, back on topic I've mixed views about this as I wanted to see him test himself in another major European league.

Shame. Would have been nice to see him over here for a couple of years to see if he could cut it .. Rainy Tuesday night in Burnley type of thing ..

Agree would ave loved him to try something else. All the bravado about leaving last summer … but at his age, why up root to a colder climate move his family and all that goes with it for a mere £250k a week…. How much money can he need

Unpopular opinion, but I think it’s a mistake on Barcelona’s part. It’s unsurprising he’s stayed, it’s difficult to see him in another shirt, but they need to build a team post Messi, and i struggle to see him playing at the top level beyond another 2 seasons. If it was left back Maldini-esque maybe, but they way he plays in his position?

Ronaldo is still doing it at 36 I'm sure Messi will move more central as time goes on

He absolutely fully planned on coming to the premiership but pulled out when Boro failed to get promoted . He has always craved coming to Teesside and checking out this ‘ parmo thing ‘ .

I saw him in 2010 and he played awful.
Final score: Barca 0-2 Hecules.

It does seem a decision rooted in symbolism rather than football. He's one injury away from the end of his career. Also I believe that Barca are in some trouble (relatively speaking) financially. The team looks unlikely to be winning much in the next couple of seasons and needs an injection of youth into an ageing squad? So signing a 35 year old superstar helps how? Unless this is about bringing players who want to say they've played with Messi or perhaps getting bums on seats with tourists wanting to see him play at the Nou Camp I really don't understand it commercially or in football terms.

Hey ho it's not my money/club.
